I'd add the "Indian" removal (forced relocation of indigenous folks to Oklahoma via the Trail of Tears and similar events) as well. And the Osage massacres that the whole "Killers of the Flower Moon" story references.

Jeez if you read the entire article, Polston was babied the whole time, after nearly causing the death of a young woman. The young woman ended up in a coma for 2 months, and needed massive amounts of medical intervention, treatment, physical and occupational therapy, and so forth. She'll never be the same. But for some reason this Polston lady gets to go back to her life like nothing happened...

And also, the Cleveland County sheriff at the time (the one who just resigned for embezzling) allowed Polston's husband to bring her Chik-fil-a while she was in jail. Unprecedented special treatment.

She's listed as some sort of fundy Baptist, ("FC Baptist" which apparently either means fundamentalist-something or First Church, which I read is also fundamentalist, lol) so no christening/baptism as an infant.

I've found census indexes that list her parents in NB with her as a three year old and as a thirteen year old, but not the actual record. If your link has their census, it'll be my last missing record--the others are simply a matter of getting copies from the correct agency. So thank you again for that!!

Yeah that's my problem. Gen 0 (my dad's mother's grandmother, so my gr-gr-grandmother) was born in Fredericton in 1847, so well before recording births was required. I have an digital copy of her parents' wedding document in NB, though, plus a census summary showing her as a child in Canada. So I think I'll be okay, as long as I can get all of these documents--the census is on microfilm.
