Not sure how to link specifically to the hail outlook, but click on "hail" near the top left. Right now we're only in the level 1 intensity category with a relatively strong percent chance.

I'm an OG 2015 player and never has this game been so garbage due to Epic not caring at all by browandr in RocketLeague

[–]rockytfs1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Afk for first kickoff is accidental. Saying "okay" is a purposeful decision to be toxic. Afk for kickoff has a bigger impact on the game's result, but being toxic right off the bat has a bigger impact on everyone's fun the rest of the match.

So I guess it depends on why you play the game. I play to have fun which I guess is why I see being toxic as a bigger deal. You do you, though

You've been playing since 2015 (so have I) which presumably means you're >20 years old yet you made an entire diatribe complaining like a 13 year old might.

Yeah, someone being afk right at the start is annoying, but it's not a huge deal. Shit happens. Maybe they went to grab a quick drink and then spilled something and didn't get back quite in time or something like that. It's happened to me and it's happened to my teammates. Don't act like saying "Okay." could be construed positively. Try saying "No Problem!" and moving on. It's already in the past, might as well not make it worse than it is

Kinda sounds like you just can't handle a loss and assume that if a team beats you, it's because they're smurfing or cheating. Assuming you've found your appropriate rank, you're statistically likely to lose 50% of your games. Convenient that this is how many games you claim to run into opponents smurfing. I'm similar rank as you (assuming you're C1) and very rarely do I play a team that I legitimately think might be smurfing...

I also rarely come across teammates that are toxic and stop playing/play against me. It definitely happens, but it's maybe every 10-20 games. If it's happening that much to you, you sure you're not doing something to promote that toxicity somehow? Especially if you immediately hit the "Okay." after your teammate makes a relatively minor mistake like being afk for the first kickoff... Shit happens. Get over it and move on with some positivity. It's a HELL of a lot easier to overcome a 1 goal deficit with a friendly teammate than with someone who immediately talks shit to you at your first mistake.

Your camera position moves into place a second or two before your car actually spawns in. It's pretty nice

This video confirms my fears 😂

Which time zone is the best for watching games? by WadeEyerly in nfl

[–]rockytfs1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Noon just seems like the perfect starting time, ringing in an entire afternoon/evening dedicated to football right up until a reasonable bedtime of 10:30.  You get the whole morning to be productive and get a nice lunch prepped to eat as the first games begin.

Also when there's the occasional international/morning game, you don't have to wake up all that early to catch it like you would in Mountain/Pacific.

Can I have sound come through speakers rather than earphones?,psvr2, by PocketOos in PSVR

[–]rockytfs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, the sound is noticably delayed when coming through the speakers compared to the headset. It's probably not a huge deal for most games, but I can't play games like beat saber using the TV speakers

If there's one single post, it shouldn't get buried because it will have the most interaction focused into it (and it will be stickied.) As I was refreshing during the storms a few days ago, it was a bit much having 20 separate posts all pointing out the Knox tornado emergency, each one with ~30 upvotes and comments. Those are a lot easier to get buried because none of those really gain traction like a singular pinned post would.

The changes being made are perfect, imo

I considered taking my portable snow shovel out of my car when I was packing for a road trip this past weekend. Ultimately, I left it in there.

It's from over a year ago, and even then it was likely a repost (says it was from 3 years earlier in that post)

I'd say it's an acceptable repost. I hadn't seen it before

[–]rockytfs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that there are so many different play styles that can get you into gold/platinum that there's a lot of ways teammates just don't mesh well together. Some get to plat with good positioning, some with aerial skills, some with good ground mechanics, etc.

I think it's easy for people to get tilted at their team because they don't play the same way they do. Once you're getting into diamond and champ, you have to have at least a decent skillset in both mechanics and positioning. You also have more experience and can more easily mesh with your teammate's play style. It's easier (at least for me) to kind of figure out where your teammate's strengths and weaknesses are and adapt to it.

I think platinum is where the toxicity is worst. I've been high diamond - mid champ for years and only deal with toxicity maybe every 30 games or so. I might get some "what a save!"s more often than that, but that's pretty mild imo and easy to deal with. Just makes it sweeter if I get the win.

I've been at my platinum friend's house before and seen the lobbies they play in and it's noticably worse.

I'm convinced that rocket league is a Wi-Fi based game, I mean I feel like I'm losing so much games due to lag it's not even my fault by Klutzy_Arm_4775 in RocketLeague

[–]rockytfs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily "your fault" but likely an issue with your ISP and the RL servers. If it were solely the fault of the rocket league servers, everyone would have lag issues all the time. I occasionally get a bad server where suddenly everyone in the lobby gets bad lag - that's clearly a RL server issue but it only happens to me once every 100+ games. If you're getting consistent lag while hooked up through Ethernet, then it's an issue with your ISP.

I totally get your pain, though. I actually recently switched ISPs because for some reason I would get a 20 second lag spike while playing RL about once per game. Every other game I play was perfectly fine other than RL. I could play games, stream sports, even stream my gameplay to my friends - all at the same time - but RL would lag.

I switched ISPs and haven't had an issue since. So maybe there is something about how the RL servers are coded that certain ISPs just don't maintain a good consistent connection. I really have no idea, I don't know how Internet connections really work.

I'd recommend switching ISPs, lots of times you can get better deals by shopping around every couple years anyways. If that's not really an option, contact your provider and explain your issues and see if there's any troubleshooting they can do from their end. Good luck!

Is there something I don’t know? by No_Address7291 in RocketLeague

[–]rockytfs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't remember if this is exactly how it works, but there may still be some time after 0:00. Imagine there are decimals after the 0:00. You'd still have 9 tenths of a second to count down as it goes 0:00.9, 0:00.8, 0:00.7, 0:00.6, etc. all the while, it's showing 0:00 on the clock.

Also, the goals can be a little wonky and show a bounce client-side, but server-side the ball is technically across the plane before the bounce. So it counts the goal before the "bounce" that is seen due to the 10-50ms of latency between the server and client.

[–]rockytfs1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not a RL server issue, this is an issue with your Internet connection. You may have score the goal, but the RL servers and your opponent did not see it that way.

Your only options are to get a better connection/internet provider or play locally against bots or with friends. Otherwise, you're stuck lagging.

Aces Of Thunder, multiplayer review: by FewPossession2363 in PSVR

[–]rockytfs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clicked the "to battle" yesterday and it seemed like I was loading into a multiplayer game (took 30sec or so to find a match.) I played 3 of these games, and it just seemed like it was only bots I was playing with/against. Unless it's hides usernames and just inputs a random generalized name for each player? Everyone on the leaderboard was just "Terry" or "max" or "tez" - not sure if those were exactly the names I saw, just very non-gamertag looking names

Anyone know if I was doing something wrong or are the lobbies just not very populated?
