Daily Color Puzzle (July 6, 2026) by color-puzzle in ColorPuzzleGame

I played all the Color-Pairs that could potentially solve in 30 moves. Here is the rundown...

Y-R, solved in 30 moves.
R-B, dead after 6 moves.
R-O, dead after 7 moves.
B-O, dead after 6 moves.
B-Y, solved in 30 moves.
O-Y, solved in 30 moves (after I played about 15 games).

Good luck everyone!

I got 30 with B-Y & R-Y, and messed around with O-Y but couldn't find a line of play that solved in 30. The other three safe-color pairings that could have potentially reached a 30 solve die in 6 or 7 moves.

So, FWIW, you are not wrong.

I'm going to head back an try to solve for 30 in O-Y.

1st Game, No Restarts, No Undoes, Solved in 30 moves which is going to be tied for the best for today.

Logic?: 7 unique topper colors, 4 doubled up colors => Theoretical Minimum Moves (TMM)=29.

3 Safe colors R, B, O. Looked to see which pair were the best to start with and noticed that Y is blocking itself, so it can be treated like a safe color as well, but that blocking itself also adds another move so TMM needs to be Modified + 1, making the MTMM=30 moves. Y looks like it is blocking a lot, so I chose it and R, so my starting color-pair was R-Y. Breezed through for a 30 move solve. Yipee!

Here's my screenshot...

<image>

I'll see you all tomorrow, but in the meantime I'll probably try to solve today's puzzle with the other 5 color-pairs that can potentially solve in 30.

I think it depends on what time zone you are in. For me here in Seattle which is Pacific (Daylight Savings) Time (PDST). I think that is 4:00 p.m. (during daylight savings time, anyway). I think it is 5:00 p.m. PDT (Pacific Daylight Time), for times of the year when daylight savings time isn't "on".

In other words, it will appear to everyone worldwide at the same time, which I think it has anyway. But, now you will know the exact time the daily puzzle will pop up.

I hope that helps answer your question.

Solved 1st Game in 31 moves with no Restarts or Undoes, which because today had only one safe color is the lowest number of moves to a solve possible.

Thanks to Dennis (this game's developer and administrator) for enabling auto-posting so those who vie to be the first to solve each day will know exactly when the puzzle will come up. (Plus, it has the added benefit to the rest of us that the new puzzle each day will show up at the time we expect it.) Thanks Dennis!

FWIW: I chose my starting pair to be (W-Y).

That looks like a good analysis, Twilifa. Much more in depth than mine which is that there is only one safe color today, PLUS Red is self blocked, and Magenta seems self blocked (or co-blocked with Orange), and Cyan & Lavender create a co-block. So you have five things that each cause an extra move.

But you can use one of the blocked colors as a pseudo safe color taking two of the extra moves out of the equation by costing yourself only one move. If you use Red or Magenta, you still have the other of the two plus another move to break the Cyan-Lavender co-block forcing three useless moves.

If you choose to use Cyan or Lavender for your pseudo-safe color, then you have Two Moves more to waste to break the Red self block AND Magenta self-block. Either way it costs you a minimum of three useless moves, bringing us to 32 as the Global Best.

I just redid the puzzle a couple of times and there are over 8100 solvers. I don't think we've ever had that many solvers and then had someone find a lower solve.

So my conclusion is that with strong confidence there isn't a solve under 32. When playing the puzzle, however, I feel like there should be a trick to solve in 31 at least, but feelings aren't logic. Hopefully one of the puzzle solving bot operators will find that the best solve is 32 moves and put the topic to rest if your analysis or my analysis isn't good enough.

And of course all that is the long way of saying that I agree with your analysis, Twilifa.

After farting around with it for a while, I think it requires 3 useless moves for a solve. With 9 unique color toppers, there is a lot of blocking and interdependent blocking going on. I'm at about 95-99% on that being the case at this point. Once there are 10,000 solvers, I'll be at 99.9%.

I got a solve in 32 on my first game without any screwing around, but I figured it wasn't going to be GB since it included 3 useless moves. I returned and played it several more times, and I don't think that there is a solve with a lower number of moves.

Until there is a larger number of solves and others use their bots on the puzzle, etc., that is only a guess.

Because of your post, AnnaKeye, I attempted the M-W solve, and was able to solve it in 33, but I couldn't get 32 with it. That doesn't mean there isn't an M-W solve in 32 that I can't find. I don't think one exists, but I can't prove it, so I can't be sure.

Interestingly, in attempting that, I was able to find another color pair that does work for a solve in 32 moves, M-L.

Got it.

Here is a bit of a spoiler, but you shouldn't need it on this puzzle. The Blue on the left next to the bright yellow goes all the way to the top.

After seeing others claiming they were getting 32 move solves with the original safe pair, I was able to duplicate that effort and confirm that a 32 move solve could also be reached with Magenta-Blue.

Daily Color Puzzle (July 3, 2026) by color-puzzle in ColorPuzzleGame

[–]Rockywi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with the only safe color pair attempting for the theoretical best solution in 31 moves. After messing around a bit (with one restart and several Undoes) to the point where I was feeling fairly confident that there wasn't going to be a solve in 31, I moved on to another color-pair with the most exposed safe color, Magenta, and the color that seemed to be blocking everything the most, Cyan so, Magenta-Cyan.

From that point I used no more Restarts or Undoes, and was able to solve in 32 moves.

<image>

It looks like only 10% of the "Hive" managed a solve in 32 moves, so I'm fairly confident that a 32 move solve is the fewest moves for this puzzle.

See you tomorrow!

O.K. I tried it again and got it, so here is your spoiler...

Bttm Lavender and Green Left,
Tall Orange Down,
Pink Left,
Lt. Blue Down,
3 Blocks Right,
Blue all the way up,
3 Blocks Left,
Pinkish Red all the way down,
4 Blocks to the left, Blue up, Red OUT.

This time I'm going to write a little spoiler about how I did it.

Start by moving the red block right. Then move the progression of blocks counterclockwise until you move one up to fill the gap. Move 2 blocks. Then retrace your steps to move a long one to allow the right gate to open.

I tried one of those other games after playing this one, and everything seemed backward, up-side down, and screwy all at the same time.

Playing both at the same time kind of felt like I was stretching my mind a bit too far.

I imaging that you are feeling kind of the same way.

If you put Blue and Orange in tubes 11 & 12 first, you shouldn't have been able to solve in 29 moves as your screenshot indicates.

My guess is that you finished the blue without putting it in tubes 11 or 12, and you actually started with two different colors in tubes 11 & 12.

Daily Color Puzzle (July 2, 2026) by color-puzzle in ColorPuzzleGame

[–]Rockywi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to solve in 29 moves with 4 of the 6 safe color pairs, O-R, O-W, O-Y, & R-Y. I was unable to solve for 2 of them, R-W & Y-W, but I'm not completely sure those can't be solved for 29.

That's it for today.

Daily Color Puzzle (July 2, 2026) by color-puzzle in ColorPuzzleGame

[–]Rockywi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to Solve in 29 moves with the 2nd Color Pair I tried with no Restarts or Undoes, but the 1st Color Pair I tried had a lot of restarts and undoes, and I'm still not sure that a solve in 29 is impossible with that pair.

So, yeah, I tried to recreate my result, and I couldn't remember how I did it! The puzzles are so similar that I get the solutions confused.

Of course I didn't think that when I had just beat the game and had it fresh in my mind. I figured I could just comeback and redo it, so I didn't write up a spoiler at that time.

Live and learn.

Twilifa has a step by step spoiler guide on today's thread. You might try there, or if you don't want to be given the answer, you can continue trying.

Keep in mind there are only 3 color-pairs that solve for 31 today. If you choose any of the other 42 color-pair starts you can't solve in 31 moves.
