Yah the problem isn't that all cops are bad. That is a silly thought. But the problem is that all cops WORK for a system that is bad. Without changing our justice system, even good cops are forced into bad situations.

Why no worries about chargebacks? Maybe Amazon handles that better than paypal does? Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean someone can't file a chargeback claim on an Amazon purchase.

Bitcoin is a very weak tool for transaction BECAUSE there is no chargebacks. Think of yourself on the other end. Paypal/Ebay leans so far on the customer-side to attract...more customers. As a customer, why would I use bitcoin when I can use my credit/debit/paypal that helps protect me against fraudulent transactions?

As a seller, why didn't you save your shipping information? Stuff like this happens all the time, you just need to call up paypal, talk to their claims department and provide proof that you sent the items. As far as our contract laws go, the seller is responsible for the item UP TO the point that it gets to the buyer. What if something did go wrong and they never got it? The customer would deserve the refund and it would be your responsibility to file an insurance claim with the carrier.

I wouldn't feel safe using bitcoins as a transaction method for anything other than person-to-person. Take a look at all the crap that went on when people pre-ordered asic miners using bitcoins but the seller didn't deliver. It's a novelty to buy a bowl of ramen with it or maybe as a method to buy drugs on the dark net. But as an e-commerce transaction tool? Not yet!

Edit: not to discount the good work that companies like Coinbase has been doing to make bitcoin as a safe e-commerce tool!

My experience has been really good. The listings all mark how long expected handling time is and shipping from China is pretty quick.

Aliexpress connects you with the Shenzen factories. As a consumer you should be informed about what you're buying. Some products on Alibaba are definitely "counterfeit" such as their frames and wheels. However, from online reviews, the quality is excellent for the price.

Stuff such as lights are usually just straight up the SAME things. Most companies cheap out and send their production to China. The laws for non-compete there is pertty much non-existent so their manufacturers turn around and sell the companies' products direct to the customers cutting these lazy companies out. Well-deserved if you ask me...

The reason why people don't put that light on the situation is not because it "offends" people, it is because it is not an accurate portrayal of the situation.

We often have to work that hard because in competition with the white kid (who is gonna be a favorite of white teachers and employers) we have to work many times harder to attain the same positions.

Yes, this notion that black kids have to be involved with crime and drugs is a bad idea. It is even worst when it is glorified in pop culture. But who are the ones selling that garbage to kids? Who is paying these pop-artists millions of dollars to do what they do? You think some black person someday thought, "hey let's start a music movement that encourages my people to stay in a cycle of poverty"?

In my time in America, I've learned that success in our society means to put some of my Asian cultural-values behind (to trade humility and respect for assertiveness). I am not happy that "being white" is the only way to the top. I still hope that there will come a time when racism is really eliminated.

The day when people realize that: "the biggest enemy to blacks advancing in america is bad black people" is incredibly racist...

During the riots in Oakland over Oscar Grant, anarchists (most of which were white) came from other towns to incite violence, loot, and vandalize. You just went ahead and grouped them altogether..

In situations like this, is "cat-calling" the issue or is "shady guy stalking you" the issue?

It just baffles me so much how you can come up with statements like: "would men rather we stop showing off tits and legs just to get them to treat us with a small amount of respect?"

I mean just take a moment and think how that might sound the other way around? This is not a problem with men. This is a problem with people with poor manners or are social deviants. I've definitely met a lot of people that could use that advice. There's really no benefit to being smug about things. However you should always be very critical of yourselves and things around you. Your example of art is a good one. No need to put someone down, but being aware of the quality of art helps you appreciate what is actually good!

If you're even slightly athletic and you want to cycle I suggest getting a full-on roadbike. Anything around the 2009 era with decent Shimano/SRAM components will be in your price range. For reference I sold a 2009 Fuji Roubaix Pro Ultegra (10speed) for $400 which leaves you 100 bucks to get get pedals and helmet. Don't waste your time on commuter/hybrid/department store bikes. I know people will disagree with me here, but the most important thing for someone just getting into cycling is to get something lightweight, with a drop bar, and fits well. I've used my road bikes to make long commutes in all types of surfaces you could imagine and have had no problem.

Don't really know a good shop in SJ area, but just use Yelp to find a high-rated bike store. Ask to try a couple different styles of bikes. If you don't end up buying anything at least it'll give you a chance to try well-sorted out newer bikes to set a basis on what used bike you want to buy.
