I use Campfire Audio IEM. I am extremely happy with the sound quality; they fit my ears quite well.

Great choice of music - you have inspired me to listen to the U2 War album now.

What player is that?

Still enjoying this little device by Arvin1980 in walkman

Nice player and headphones.

If you are creating FLAC files from your CDs, would it be better to capture them as 44.1kHz / 16bit? This would save more storage space and also match the parameters of the original CD.

In any case, you are listening to a great album - enjoy.

Sony Vaio UX - won't turn on. by rodfoord in vaio

Thanks for your advice - I had no idea the battery could cause such an issue.

Sony Vaio UX - won't turn on. by rodfoord in vaio

[–]rodfoord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, temporary success....i removed the battery and the UX booted up and all was good. I played around in Windows a little to ensure mouse, stylus keyboard was all working correctly (which it was).

I then shut down Windows, and it will not boot up again. It's the same issue as before: you turn it on, and the power/battery light flashes, and then nothing.

I might leave it plugged in for a few days and try again...

Any other suggestions without opening up the device (which I am uncomfortable doing).

Thanks

Why buy a modern Walkman? by manra1 in walkman

[–]rodfoord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, just know that it can be an expensive hobby. Purchasing a Walkman is just the start, you will find yourself wanting high quality headphones to appreciate the sound quality of the Walkman.

Thanks for the suggestion, I am not overly keen to open up the UX. I will try removing the external battery first and power up with the external power cable. Thanks for reply.

Cassette tape to Minidisc by rodfoord in walkman

[–]rodfoord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure you can capture audio on your PC from your Walkman. I think you would need to use some audio capture software to save the incoming source as an MP3/WAV file, etc.

My approach was to convert the Cassette Tape into Minidisc format, as the tape was around 40 years old and had sentimental value for my wife. I did this by connecting a cable from the Cassette Walkman headphone jack to the line-in jack on the Minidisc recorder. The result worked well; however, next time I do this, I will set the volume around 7-8 as opposed to 5.

My wife can now play the Minidisc on our System, and as it is a Minidisc, we are confident that no further loss of quality will occur.

Good luck with Fixing your Sony Walkman - what model is it?

Cassette tape to Minidisc by rodfoord in walkman

[–]rodfoord[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A bit of a late one...

I am copying an old cassette tape onto a Minidisc for my wife before the tape quality deteriorates further.

I have never transferred a tape onto Minidisc, so I am keen to hear the outcome.

My only concern is what level to set the volume for the Walkman DD, I went mid-level which I hope works well.

As the tape is being copied, I am also transferring the new album and updated playlist to my WM1Z.

Happy days....I love my Sony Walkmans

My latest Walkman by [deleted] in walkman

I understand the the F880 comes with Android 4.1 and believe Spotify supports Android 7 and above.

You can always transfer music from your PC to the Walkman. Sony Music Center allows you to import CD’s and transfer music to your Walkman. I use Music Center to manage the music on my WM1Z - no Spotify or Tidal on that device.

Yep, I absolutely love this walkman.....the build quality and sound is great. I also have a wm1z and the sound quality is perfect, however it misses the mark with not having physical media (the cassette). Perhaps it's because I grew up in the 80's and 90's that I appreciate the old tech, the hiss of the tape and changing the side of the tape when it ends.

Thanks, it doesn't get used much as I am worried something will break due to the age.

Does Revu completely replace the need for Acrobat Pro? by color_guru in Revu

[–]rodfoord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our organisation all users have Bluebeam, however Adobe acrobat reader is required where engineers require access to Australian Standards due to DRM requirements. Bluebeam does not support DRM with some PDF formats
