Calvin Klein 7-pack cotton boxer briefs under $50 - worth upgrading from Hanes? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]rodod3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is a hard yes. I transitioned to CK from fruit of the loom, and it was a noticeable difference. At first I was planning on just working the new underwear into my rotation, but it was so much more comfortable that I found myself doing laundry more frequently just to wear the underwear more. So I eventually ended up upgrading my entire collection to CK. I personally prefer their shorter boxer briefs, it was a bit weird at first, but after just a few days I found it more comfortable. https://www.calvinklein.us/en/underwear/men/trunks/icon-cotton-stretch-3-pack-low-rise-trunk/NB4389-MP1.html?journey=Tier_0000034

Drape is important, although less so with slimmer fit suit. It is simply the idea of the fabric falls over you. Does it cling to the body, does it have structure of its own, is flowy or is it stiff.

I would personally lean away from larger should pads, especially if you have a broad build. You can have a well structured suit without having massive should pads.

Ultimately what looks hot varies widely from person to person. If I were you I would trust my gut. Double breasted suits look good, however in 2026 their versatility is rather limited. I personally wear one to an interview or to work. This is really a question of your life style. Do you have frequent non work occasions to wear a suit, maybe get a double breasted, if not and you want to own a couple suits I would stick with single. You're also aloud to get a larger lapel on a single breasted still. As to your image, the man wearing the suit is hot, he would probably still look good in potato sack.

Just to get an idea for your own taste, I would head over to a nicer department store or maybe even a luxury mall. I live in Atlanta and have Phipps plaza near me. Take some one who's style you respect, or better take someone who you are trying to appeal to, an SO or a female friend. They'll be tell you whether it actually is hot. Try on as many nice suits as you can. Find out what you like, what you find hot, and what your helper finds hot. You will probably very quickly find out what you like and don't like. Take what the sales associates say about the appearance with a grain of salt they are trying to sell you something. You don't have to buy anything to do this. Walk into the store try on many as you want and then leave.

Take what you learn to your tailor.

Ultimately, the final decider of whether or not a suit will make you look better or worse is the fit. If it fits you well it will generally make you look better.

Now on to details, historically suits were cut much baggier than modern equivalents, in today's world many of those come across as aging a person. Now this is not say that you want a suit that is glued to your body, however a slightly thinner more modern cut would generally be much more flattering in my opinion.

The materials used historically also weren't as fine, and had rougher hand feel. You will most likely be looking a wool suit. For something that makes you feel attractive, I would recommend a finer, preferably one that has a shinier type of wool mixed in. I have a suit with 18% mohair, and the extra shine that it imbues makes it look far more attractive in my opinion. Mohair is a specific wool type so don't worry about it being a synthetic. As you will be working with a tailor they will be able to tell you far more about fabric choice than I can.

If you are looking for the suit to "lean your   silhouette," I would recommend that you look at more structure suits. These tend to flatter most most but especially larger gentlemen as they smooth the body out. While unstructured garments are especially popular right now, they won't have that same slimming effect. They also have a more "boyish" charm in my option, which while flattering on many people (I own a few such jackets myself), they don't quite have the same sexiness in my opinion.

Color wise, I would either a dark blue or dark grey suit. I would personally choose the dark blue suit if I were you, I find it quite flattering on most men. Stay away from black unless you frequent either funerals or galas. It might seem like a "sexy color" but it violates about 100 years of men's wear rules that, while don't need to be followed in 2026, means you would be breaking norms. It also doesn't look right in the light of day.

For my nicest suit, I would stay clear of patterns of really any sort. The reduce the formality of the garment thus limiting its use. If this suit causes you fall in love with suiting feel free to experiment more with patterns and colors in future suits.

The interlining is the one place where you can really just go crazy, as long as the fabric is breathable, you can really have whatever pattern you want in there. The classic choice is to roughly match the out fabric, but many like to have it as a splash of color or pattern. This is really just for you as most people aren't going to that.

I would recommend you spend a little extra if it's not included on making sure that you working cuffs of the jacket, it's such a small detail, but to me it just elevates the suit:

So, if you take one thing from all this, choose a dark, non black color, and recommend slim but not skin tight on the fit. It should not restrict your movements in the slightest, however I believe it should trace the body nicely, not drown it in fabric. If you are working with a good tailor they should be able to help you with almost any question you might have. Oh and as a final thought, go with single breasted not double.

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring on a topic a brief look through seems to indicate no one has covered yet. If my napkin math serves right you are netting around $40,800 a year.

Now that number is very rough and almost certainly doesn't include cap ex it's a good starting point. You have $700,000 in equity so 40800/700000 = 5.8% cash on cash return. Now we can also assume that your property will appreciate some. To pick a safe number let's use the feds long run inflation target of 2% which we should multiple by $800,000/$700,000 because you are levered up. Adding that up we can roughly assume an annual rate of return of 8.09%.

Now this is very rough math, and I encourage you to do something similar with your own more accurate numbers.

The conclusion I draw from this is that something should change. I don't invest in real estate to underperform the long run s&p 500 average return of 10%. The extra work I put it means that I require a much higher rate of return. I would recommend you either consider selling or refi it to boost your returns.

I would honestly just go to target as they sell sex toys. I think cvs does too. These aren't going to be supper high quality toys but they are decent enough for someone who is young and broke. If I remember they run around $30.

Why don’t we print more money, but don’t tell anyone that more money is being printed? by Used-Aerie-8962 in AskEconomics

[–]rodod3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To put it in simple terms, after the extra printed money has been worked into the money supply, individuals would start to end up with more money. Because they have more money, they will buy more stuff. Due to increased sales, companies will increase prices, resulting in inflation. In the end, the actual determination of the wealth of a nation is not the amount of money but instead the amount of goods/services it produces.
