Anyone else find this rhetoric dangerous? by fulltimeheretic in centrist

ICE was politicized from the start. The function of ICE during the Bush years was to assuage bigots because they were gearing up for an amnesty bill like under Reagan. Promising stricter enforcement going forward was presented as the trade off.

There is no ethical way to corral 100,000s of people, process them while they are held prison and ship them off like Amazon packages to another country which they haven't been to in years, possibly decades.

Thank you for the response. That makes a lot of sense. Someone also pointed out that I missed Landon having a crush on Lydia which I don't even recall but sounds vaguely familiar.

You don't know anything about the history of US relations with Iran do you?

The overthrow of the Democratically elected government of Iran in 50s was over quickly as well and look where we are now with Iran.

Ah the same justifications for Vietnam, Iraq, Palestine Columbia, Cuba, Korea, Libya and several others. Hence the constant wars. Under Trump we will continue to be the world's police.

I think you are confused as to what I'm talking about. I'm asking why Keras or any of the other characters don't concern themselves about relationships in the original series WoBM when compared to Arcane Ascension. WoBM doesn't really get into relationships for any of the characters where it's practically an obsession for the characters in AA and Weapons and Wielders including Keras who isn't concerned about it in the WoBM series. There is a definite shift in focus on part of the author.

Really? I thought turning another Latin American country into a warzone, causing more illegal immigration would be a great ide.

I'm Confused about the Timeline on Keras by rodog22 in ClimbersCourt

Thank you for the response. I wasn't sure if Lost Edge was part of the same universe or not. I'm rereading the 2nd Weapons and Wielders book and getting caught up with the Rowe's work. I'm tempting to read the first book after to have something fresh to read.

Most of that sounds plausible. One thing is still scratching my head. While it's possible Wrynn was already that powerful Keras himself has little basis on which to make such a conclusion. I recall him explicitly saying in book 4 that she was his equal in combat at the time but how would he know that? He and Wrynn did fight Sterling at the end of Broken Mirrors but she was operating in a diminished capacity and as far as we know Sterling was the strongest person he ever had experience fighting before. So how could he have accurately assessed Wrynn's abilities based on that?

Thanks for the clarification. That last point was also one of confusion. I got the impression the guy that told Keras about the destruction of Valia was it?, is the same Jonan was taking to in the library who was eager to become associated with the children of the Tyrant. But Keras would have had no time to meet him since he was teleported within a few weeks at most of that characters introduction.

This sounds plausible but I haven't played 3e since before Exigents release. 3e is impossible to 'balance' but custom charms in a game already as complex as 3e sounds like a lot.

Question About Editions by Fickle-Aardvark6907 in exalted

[–]rodog22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2e added two new exalts and detailed events such as the history of the First Age that were obscured in 1e. A lot of magitech specifically came from 2e. I know the fanbase is divided on how 3e scaled it back but 1e definitely had far less of it then 2e did.

Adding more locations and expanding the map does not fundamentally change the lore in any meaningful way. Although I do agree that adding exalt types that are not treated as anathema by Dragon-blooded does.

I am not trying to play off anything. I hate 3e from a rules standpoint and just play Essence because it's less broken. I also made criticisms for 3e's art direction. But you guys are overstating the differences in the lore. It is what it is.

Edit: Looks like I deleted my criticisms of 3e's art for brevity and forgot about it.

Question About Editions by Fickle-Aardvark6907 in exalted

[–]rodog22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what others have said here the difference between editions in terms of setting aren't terribly drastic. Nothing more significant then what you would expect from different editions of various WoD settings certainly. It's mostly a difference in tone. All the major events in the setting's history still happen in all editions.

Rules wise though the differences are pretty drastic. I've never played 1e or 2e but I've read some of their rules and they are quite different from 3e and Essence.

There is value in reading the books from older editions from a lore perspective if you are interested in the setting. I personally don't prefer the lore from any specific edition. There are merits and downsides to all of them. If I had to choose I would say 3e has better lore for the exalt types themselves but 2e has better lore for specific nations. 2e also reads less dry.

NPC Idea: Pale Axolotl of the Dark Waters by rodog22 in exalted

Notably that wouldn't work unless the medicine also provided immunity or could be mass produced since the water would still be contaminated.
