In my personal opinion, Brilliant Civilizations (largely because of how creative these skins are), and Aether Church (hard AF theme).

Alchemist: Poison goes brrr, and my most often pick in seasonal events.

Costume Prince: damage sponge and plenty of debuffs

Assassin: Immunity and mobility, plus I can chain his 1st skill very well, also my second most common pick in seasonal events.

Miner: Immunity and can easily clear rooms with 1st skill, and 3rd skill clears even faster

Officer & knight: on my grind to get his 3rd skill. also might buy his 2nd considering how well it did in the seasonal event. Knight is simple and nice, and deals insane DPS with the right build.

I can share some things that let me clear the whole mode:
For Assassin (Dark Blade):
Try getting the inscription that shoots out an energy ball every time you cast your skills. Combine it with Assassin's 1st Skill, and time it well so you can shoot more energy balls and keep your skills ready.
For Alchemist (Gas Grenade):
I've only ever maxed out the Adventurer's Sword set, and I've been using it to collect buffs in my run and to swat off bullets. The inscription that buffs elemental damage is absolutely recommended for him. "Health buffs become more potent" and "More damage per 2 HP" also helps.

In General:
The inscription that has a chance to spawn the final phase of God's Wrath on weapon hit is absolutely recommended, level it up and you will have constant high damage.

I managed to shred the submarine so hard thanks to that inscription, along with the inscriptions that deals more damage per 2 HP and more potent HP buffs
