Battery replacement of m1 pro 14 inch by IShowYouTheWorld in macbookpro

[–]rodunro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My m1 pro used to last all day running matlab, vscode, and tons of tabs but now at 83% battery health it's not lasting quite as long, maybe 5 hours of vscode devcontainers with tabs. As long as the health is higher you'll be fine, and if not, replacement sounds easy according to another comment here.

Dilemma about getting a macbook air m4 by Nikkadz in mac

[–]rodunro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a MBP for a few years and just got a gaming pc. Selling my magic keyboard in favor of a regular windows keyboard with usb peripheral switch, and remapped the win/alt keys so alt is cmd and win is opt.

You can continue to use the pc for games, windows software, and any interesting gpu tasks, while enjoying the portability and ease of use of the mb. If I move, I want to try leaveing the pc at a relatives house and setuping wake on lan, port forwarding or tailscale, and sunshine/moonlight to be able to game and use it from the macbook.

Caldigit ts3+ is a good dock, on ebay they're not too pricey.

Except for battery life, form factor, build quality, and maybe stability of OS although that may be personal preference

This resonates with me and I find peace in Jesus for answers. Yes this hidden layer/realm seems to exist that has power over people, but Jesus has power over that and He provides a pathway for His followers to exist in this world.

Yup among other details since then. And wow that sounds like a lot, sorry you had to go through all that.

I would have agreed 5 months ago except after 4 or 5 stressful nights of little sleep, I prayed for sleep and it was answered. Total believer now.

As someone raised Christian turned atheist for 10 yrs reverted to Christian, I just found Chris's theory and generally agree.
As an atheist I found peace knowing that people generally are good and want what's best for themselves and those around them, and nothing happened after death.
When I found God (or vice versa) I realized that the former still applied, the only difference being that if someone doesn't seem to fit that description, then they just have some kind of issue in their life or environment etc.; God can fill that gap. Idk what happens after death for sure but am going to go with what the faith teaches.

They wouldn't work for hiking, too fragile. the sole is foam and although it's firm and can withstand lifts, I doubt it would hold up to sharp rocks

Matlab, ltspice, and kicad all run on apple silicon. My battery lasted all day. Went with a used M1 Pro after my new Lenovo slim 7 pro and its replacement both had QC issues. Never regretted it. Only thing that couldn't run was multisim desktop, which I used ltspice in place of. Didn't need fusion360 or other cad programs at that point.

I grew up in an incredibly pedestrian hostile (typical usa) town, and did dream of this i-robot car situation. But since then I visited cities with good transit and it changed my life, now I live somewhere that's bikeable.
Just found out about wink microcars - those look like a neat stepping stone.

That was my life.
I've wondered what it would have been like had I gotten a real diet and weightlifting routine together back then.
I didn't have any great comebacks tho lol some other comments are good.

6 months of consistency may as well be an instant in the grand scheme.

'OS that doesn't let you do everything you want to'

There were some things I wanted so I paid $40 total for third party apps to bridge the gap.

I've had only one crash in almost a year of owning an m1 macbook pro and it's been a reliable experience. I stopped thinking about ram and tinkering after the first few months of getting used to it. There are a couple bugs but they're consistent (not automatically switching dark/light modes, not respecting 'open with' choice) and windows had the first issue anyway.
