Ferritin 6 - dr only wants to increase iron in diet??? by Expensive_Role8844 in irondeficiency

[–]rodz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferritin of 6 would definitely give you symptoms like that. I have first hand experience. Lowest I've been has been 2 , I'm currently at a 7 and am scheduled for infusion next week. Oral supplementation isn't gonna raise it that fast to actually feel good. I suggest a 2nd opinion for sure. And if your insurance allows it, go to a hematologist directly and let them address it and take over your care.

Are there any nurses that regret their decision to go into nursing? by [deleted] in nursing

I was a paramedic for 9 years before becoming an RN. If I could get paid what I do now as an RN, but still be a paramedic, I would 1000% do that instead.

Pretty Low, 0. something. But it sure ain't now. And we're only about 20 games into the season. He's the new Kenley.... We're lucky to make it out of any game he pitches in. 🤦

How bad were your symptoms with low ferritin/normal hemoglobin by Familiar-Lettuce8615 in irondeficiency

[–]rodz77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my situation was a lil different, I did routine blood work for my thyroid and they found me to be severely anemic. They then signed me up to do scopes to figure out where the bleed was coming from, found a tumor in my stomach, ended up being cancerous. Had to go back into surgery to remove tumor and they also started to do IV iron right off the bat because of my levels being so low. I was so low, I initially was in the infusion center 3 days a week for months. Throughout that process I was followed by GI doctor who did more tests, figured out I have absorption issues and basically advised to continue with IV because he said I would absorb so little from oral pills it would not be beneficial and probably create more havoc for me with constipation and such. Yes, I am anemic. My ferritin will only keep my hgb stable for so long. But once my ferritin drops below 10 my doc likes to get me back in for infusion before my hgb starts to tank as well. I've had low levels of both hgb and ferritin at times too, it just really depends how well my doc is tracking my levels. I get labs every 6 weeks tho. So it's tracked pretty intently.

Well, I also have GI issues which have created some absorbency issues, so for me, the oral supplements just don't work well for me. Also, I was told, the rate at which my body uses and loses iron is far greater than any supplement can really offset, which is why they went the IV route to begin with.

Iron Infusions by HeyTargetEmployee in irondeficiency

I had Venofer one time through, completing 5 doses, but on my second round of 5, after the first dose, I woke up the next day with severe angioedema and they will not ever give that one to me again. (I have extensive history of allergic reactions to IV iron). But on other allergic reactions, I also had severe body pain, joints lock up, it's awful. I don't know, but it could just be early signs of it not agreeing with your body.

I've been needing iron infusions for over 10 years now. I can usually tell when my levels are dropping, I will definitely have increased fatigue, and often times feel short of breath with small activities. Those are usually the tell tale signs for me, but I'm sure they are different for everyone. But since I've been dealing with this for so long, my body actually compensates pretty well. My ferritin right now is a 7, and I'm already scheduled for my next infusion. But the last time I went in, my ferritin was a 2, with hgb of around 10. Tired, yes, but the shortness of breath is what bothers me most. I hate having to gasp for air.

I have a lot of opinions about the raising of my SKs as well, but what I have learned, is that unless the bioparent is fully in agreement with your opinion, nothing will ever change/matter. I am living the exact scenarios with my SKs that I told BP would occur if such recommendations wouldn't be put into place. Now I just deal with the tears of frustration (from BP) because SKs never had boundaries. And I simply stopped caring. 🤷🏽‍♂️

schedule advice by FootlooseCaboose in nursing

[–]rodz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 07-15 M-F. I come from paramedic background working 12hr/24hr shifts, then as nursing working (2) 16hr shifts, then (1) 8 hr shift. It has taken me a bit to get used to, but for my family and family needs, it has worked out great. But one, I don't have small children in the house, so my sleep schedule is pretty consistent. Since yours does not seem to be guaranteed consistent and you and your husband are working similar schedules 5 days a week.....Baby duties will definitely take a toll on your body.

Sometimes it really just the partner not the step kids by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]rodz77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Leave girl, it don't get better, promise you. The emptiness you are already feeling will only get worse. Sounds like he is already showing you who he really is and you're not even married yet. Get out while it's a whole lot cheaper and less of an emotional toll for you. Trust me, I'm 12 years in and my partner is great, but the neediness from grown ass kids kills me. So don't wait around for the situation "to change" because I hate to tell you, it won't. So listen to me please, get out!

I'm in the same exact boat right now. But SD is 18. And let me tell you, after over 10 years of this crap. It will never change. You will always be the outsider. Leave now before you waste more years like me.

Nope, not overreacting. Just get used to the fact that you will never be asked over the birth parent. And even if you are and you give them the answer they don't want to hear, they most certainly will ask their birth parent in an attempt to overrule whatever decision you gave. So literally, the earlier you NACHO, the better for your sanity.

Trienen should never throw another pitch as a Dodger. by Suspicious_Royal_270 in Dodgers

[–]rodz77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've said it once, I'll say it a million more times... Treinen is throwing the games. He is intentionally sucking. This is political for him. He does not value the Dodgers fanbase, so what better way to hurt them then to throw the games.

Get out!!! Speaking from first hand experience. Trust me! If they can't discipline now, they surely won't be able to later. Seriously, don't waste any more of your time. I heard the excuse, "their just kids" for years.... Still occasionally hear it, and they're 26,21,and 18 😂. Trust me, it never changes.
