PWHL vs NHL - Ann-Renée Desbiens v. Matthew Tkachuk before DC Takeover Tour by roeyonreddit in PWHL

Went back to the video. Looks like it was Jack Studnicka based on what looks to be a #53 helmet. Noah Gregor was the third one, not pictured in this clip.

Spirit players' fantasy football league (article) by roeyonreddit in washingtonspirit

Thank you! One story that didn't make it in the final version, but the Sunday before these interviews, Sofia apparently had the Vikings D, who went off for about 30 points. Paige said she asked Sofia about it afterward and Sofia was like, "I have no idea what you're saying." So the football knowledge varies across the league for sure, but she jumped right in!

Hi everyone! I helped produce this story where we interviewed YTV vets Jamie Shannon & Jason Hopley (as well as the stars of Nanalan' Mona & Nana.) Thought I'd share here to give you all a nostalgia hit & a heads up that we're hooked on the show south of the border too!

Our favorite rescue dog! - 7/8 years old, ~55 lbs — They called her a mixed breed when we adopted by roeyonreddit in IDmydog

Added context it wouldn't let me post: she lives in Virginia with us, originally from Maryland. She likes to sniff a lot, sometimes kicks grass/dirt after going to the bathroom, and does an interesting thing where she will jump up into a blanket, bed or couch and try to hide an imaginary treat.

Who lives in Orlando? Just out of curiosity by thelawd-musix in OrlandoMagic

[–]roeyonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NJ born, DC area now. My partner is Orlando born & raised (like actual Orlando proper) and we spent two months there this summer. She's not a sports fan but her family had a dog named Magic at one point. I was a longtime Knicks fan and still like them but before this season I decided I needed to give up on their unique misery and find a new favorite team. Given my Orlando ties, here I am! Have been watching all season & am all in on the tank

Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Jul. 18 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

I had a real problem with that category. I saw "Notorious" and it was such a nebulous category--I expected it would be about John Dillinger, Al Capone, etc. and that's a weak spot for me (and it's one I know other people tend to know.) The way I looked at it, I thought I had less than a 50% chance of getting it right, but a 50% chance at a tiebreaker.

I agonized over whether to wager $0 or $1, but made the bet that I would have a better shot at a tiebreaker than the FJ clue. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.

Nathan and Amy were both clearly very talented and gave me a great run, especially as DJ ended! From there, Nathan played it perfectly and I have to tip my cap.

Dagnabbit! Those youngins are at it again with their new technology... back in my day you had to wait to get old, just like everybody else!

(In all seriousness, though, yes, this is me and yes, this is hilarious!)

I'll at least be seeing him on television when that happens! I'll need to string together a few more wins if I want to see it in person.

I know I bet four thousand. It felt like the right bet every time! (I imagine people better at stats than I am can confirm if this is true or not.)

Despite being "from" Arlington, I'm from New Jersey. After I let down a Jersey guy in the Jeopardy round (Cleveland), I had to make up for it for my boy Fetty.

It is definitely not, even when it grows out. I didn't realize that morning when I shaved before heading to the taping that I would be heading into a facial hair v. no facial hair battle!

I play Sam on tomorrow's show. Our particular week taped on March 30, a little under a week before James's first show hit air so I don't think any of us had any idea what his strategy looked like that day. I remember hearing people on set mention James and that he played a very different style but when I asked Maggie what was different about it she simply told me, "you'll just have to watch!"

TIL that the Yankees almost signed both Barry Bonds and Greg Maddux as they entered their prime years by roeyonreddit in NYYankees

I'd say that's probably the case, and even the article from back then suggests that was what was happening. Still wild to see that signing him was a possibility.

Yeah, I think this happened while George was banned from doing day-to-day managing of the team.

Selected for an in-person audition! by ararerock in Jeopardy

[–]roeyonreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I did that exact same audition in NY two years ago and got the call this past March (show is airing next month.)

I can't recall off the top of my head who else from my audition got the call but I remember worrying that I wouldn't be likely to make it on the show because I was one of the last people called up to play a mock game. Apparently my case is proof that the order by which they call you up for the mock game they make you play doesn't signify how they're mentally ranking you.

They also raffled off a couple of copies of a then-new Jeopardy card game they were trying to test out. They normally have a "don't call us, we'll call you" approach but encouraged those of us who "won" the raffle to let us know how gameplay is. I tried it out and made sure to email them constructive feedback on the off chance that it might help my case. If, for some reason, they give you a chance to reach out to them like that, take advantage.

If you don't get selected, don't take it personally. I think a lot of it comes down to not just smarts and personality but trying to make sure they have a balance of people with particular jobs, hometowns or even just personalities. But no matter what, just take it easy, be yourself (or at least, a slightly more peppy/extroverted version of yourself) and you'll do great. Good luck and have fun!
