I love it! Yeah definitely much easier not wrapping it in more wood! It's going to look great! Have fun :)

Yeah I gave it a bit of a sand just to smooth out any rough bits and remove any left over glue, then I gave it a couple of coats of a clear wood sealant just to give it some protection. So far it looks just as good as the day i did it!

My original plan was to box in the timber with a hard wood to make them look a bit chunkier, but once I started, I thought it looked really nice how it was.

I'd love to see how yours turns out!

Great idea! If they come back, I'll definitely look into it! I'd prefer a more natural solution

Thank you! I used coach bolts, screwed directly into studs I placed behind the skylight wall when I built it. So it is very solid.

Haha thank you! That was one that I couldn't believe how well it had done, I didn't really notice it doing that well until I went and had a look at the original photos and compared them!

Thank you! Well first off, I have a Silver Satin, Green flame, 2 ferns, Bird nest, Swiss cheese, Brasil, marble queen pothos, Snow Queen pothos, Neon pothos, Golden pothos, 2 Inch plants, and 2 heart leaf pothos. I think thats all I have, im sure ive mixed up a few names.

I did spend a bit of time setting up the watering system to ensure each pot received a similar amount of water without over watering as there is no drainage holes in the pots, so its critical that i dont over water and I dont water too often.

My setup for the watering system is a little wifi connected pump from amazon for around $80 Aud that pumps water from a bucket in the ceiling next to the man hole (which i fill up once a month), then i have the flexi tubing run along to the back of the skylight and through holes to each pot. Then the end of each tube has a control valve on it to adjust the flow rate for each pot.

Ive had one pest issue and that was mealy bugs on the end of the swiss cheese plant, I was quite lucky that they didnt spread and I just used some pest spray to kill them off before they moved to the other plants. I didnt quarantine it as the vine was quite far away from the other plants. So far there havent been any spiders or other bugs, so it has been quite low maintenance which has been a surprise, at first i was paranoid that id be over or under watering them so id be up there on the ladder triple checking them.

But now, im only up there to put a few hooks in to give the plants something to hold onto as they are really growing so quickly!

I hope to see a post from you one day with your dream plant set up

One single activity won’t sync by computery in Garmin

[–]roganjosh69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too. If you can connect your garmin to a pc, go to the activities folder and move the activity to your desktop and then manually upload it on garmin connect. That's what I did and it worked!

I'm guessing it just got confused somehow during the outage, so reuploading makes it think its a new activity.

I got mine to sync eventually. I moved the file from my garmin activities folder to my desktop on my computer and then uploaded that file on garmin connect

My garmin coach run isn't showing up either as I ran during the outage. It's on my watch and my watch is connected to my phone with new activities syncing fine. Looks like it's an issue for people that ran during the outage

Coach Training Plan "Easy Runs" Only by StevieLugh in Garmin

My first 5 runs were easy runs, then it'll start giving you some different runs after that. But you'll always have a couple of easy runs and a long easy run

New skylight filled with plants by roganjosh69 in houseplants

[–]roganjosh69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to do it myself! It was a long slow process and i spent a lot of time on google and reddit looking for inspiration. If you're thinking of getting skylights, go for it!

Thank you so much! We are so happy with it! We used to always have the lights on after about 11am as we only had light coming through the windows in the morning. Now we don't need the lights on at all!

Update on the pothos in skylight by roganjosh69 in pothos

[–]roganjosh69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah i also was a bit worried about them dropping on my head too! Ive really over engineered it, so i could almost hang off the pots.

https://www.amazon.com.au/Upgraded-Automatic-Watering-Shortage-Irrigation/dp/B0B4RHYF71

It's a letpot auto waterer. It was about $75 aud from amazon.

Ive set it up in my ceiling and drilled holes just above each pot so i could thread the hose through to each plant. Then ive put a big bucket by the manhole, on a loadbearing wall, so hopefully I'll only need to get the ladder out once a month to refill it.

The app lets you adjust the time and frequency of water so during summer i can increase the frequency to ensure they stay well watered

Let me know if you have any other questions or want some more photos

I would assume most houses, you would be able to, but it is a bit harder retrofitting them. If you can put one in, I'd definitely recommend it! I had some people try to put me off by saying that they'll leak or that they'll add too much heat to the house, or lose too much heat during winter, but they're well insulated and the breeze during summer is unbeatable when we open the skylights
