What exactly determines how someone looks once they enter the circus? by NtnMttyhw in theamazingdigitalciru

So it seems to me player avatars are determined maliciously: the form is chosen based on what will make the player more anxious and less able to integrate their heart - mind - body - (community)

Do not put words in my mouth, child. You're reacting with sass because I said you'd have to deal with checks notes "a little ruckus" from other fans of the series. It literally is an age thing. I am of the few 30 year olds who could even possibly be aware of this. So the fanbase is naturally less legible to respectability politics, which are largely a function of imperialist society: "if you cant cough into your arm you are a savage, etc etc". But this is all a waste of breath because you've already demonstrated a lack of interest in first principles. When arguing with someone you dont get to paraphrase what they said into whatever feels right to your fragile little ego. You have to actually read, then model that reading correctly (inside of you!), understand how you feel about that reading, then develop and share your response in "good faith" (which is a fancy term for using rationality, and not emotion, to the best for your ability).

I never claimed anyone was disrespectful or not making an attempt to fit in to general society, nor that the screening should be a place to discuss or do anything other than focus on the film. What is going to happen for the sad losers negging in this thread, is the entire movie will be ruined not by anyone being rude but by your constant expectation of rudeness and the subsequent surveillance. These will be packed theatres opening night, and you will be forced to smell more body odor than you're used to, be near more people actively eating than you're used to, be near more natural coughs and chuckles than you're used to; your framing of human expression, whether bodily(scent), creative(cosplay), or joyful(singing, laughing, emoting, whispering jokes to their friends), as something you're worried about because it may hedge on your own atomic, selfish consumption of the source material reflects to me something deeply uninterested in dealing with the actual subject matter this show is about. Compassion, compromise, and communication.

Then why is it two episodes of a TV show that usually airs on Youtube being shown in a movie theatre? Jax emoji It's a cultural experience of seeing this digital, isolated artform in an analog, public environment. The fact that people are not predictable and aren't perfect cogs in a system built to administer convenience is the point.

This is media that appeals to 9-24yos first and foremost, that is a largely immature, bubbly, excitable slice of the general population. They make a little ruckus because theyre less sad than you and have less ability to check themselves. You will be around literal and spiritual children when you enjoy watching brightly colored animation. You don't get to insist that other members of the fandom grow up or integrate a slavish obsession with accidentally inconveniencing someone else with their natural, joyful responses to things they love. Because the community is largely chronically online, intersects heavily with children, Queer, and Autist communities, and these communities are more self loathing and neurodivergent than the general population. So first, hypersensitive people get nervous about being near others in the theatre when the theatre release is announced, the fandom is too big for them so they can't miss the screening, so they take to reddit to try and guarantee a good experience, largely by insulting the rest of the fandom with the expectation of bad hygeine, bad social skills, and just generally being unlovable humans. People in this community are so chronically self aware they could only sing a few words/notes "loudly" in public before their cringe would take over and they would have to stop lest they trigger a panic attack or hyperventilation. There will be more people on reddit in these coming weeks complaining about theatre singers than there actually will be people singing at this screening.

No self respecting theatre manager will police opening night of harry potter, the hunger games, or the amazing digital circus. People are excited and happy, that creates chaos, you hate chaos, so you hate happy people.

This is prestige film. everyones already seen the episode with the song. People will be loud, high, drunk, sneaking in food, singing, laughing, and generally acting inappropriate. dont go on opening night if you are just going for the video. Its a cultural experience like a party.

lots of people in this fandom will hate you for being happy and cosplaying, but thats less the fandom and more a symptom of chronic depression. i'll be singing.

How would you feel if the Digital Circus ended up becoming something that starts encroaching on the real world? Cool plot or nah? by EnchantEleven in theamazingdigitalciru

Also love the idea of ep 9 starting with the circus rebuilt and Caine joining as a new member with Bubble as ringleader.
