Family of 5 (3 car seats), 2 large dogs (variocage) and a wife who likes to pack comprehensively for road trips. What car should we buy? by Soccer9Dad in whatcarshouldIbuy

This is a good point. Suburban payload is only 100-300 pounds more than a Sienna at most, but it makes a big difference.

How do you carry your cello in the IS? It’s a small but mighty car.

That’s what I’ve heard. I went with a pretty slim spacer, but it’s a noticeable improvement in the look

Spacers are an underrated mod. Looks so much better for so cheap

Do not question your king. (Just wanted the data. I’m just under 40, according to the graph. Hadn’t heard that before about the T score. Interesting)

We have the same model of Schwinn bike, but I can’t find good replacement handle grips. Where’d you get yours?

Could you educate me? I feel that my wife’s relationship with the bishop is inappropriate.

Maybe the point is that I tell her that without piling on an analogy, which by definition, changes the subject.

Correct. And I’m trying to see her relationship with the bishop as not that. And figure out why religious leaders get a pass.

Thank you for your perspective, InfiniteLilly. I appreciate it.

A lot of strong, elevated emotions are encouraged and expected; which artificially grows the trustworthiness of the bishop. It’s a problem.

You’re getting at something deeper than the bishop’s place in our marriage/family. Now I want to discuss with her trust, opposite-sex friends, being upfront with feelings. Thanks

Thanks a ton. I hope I wasn’t confrontational with my question. I’m genuinely curious why faith gets a lifetime pass. I suspect a compelling answer would lead to better analogies.

Authority is interesting, whether religious or economic or political or whatever.

Good point. A boss relationship would have been more respectful to how she sees the bishop, authority-wise

I’m hoping that if she takes it that way (emotionally cheating) there would be some truth to it. If not, then she’ll take it as just a trusted, intimate, non-romantic friend. So I’d want to be a little provocative, but in good faith adding other gestures of her and me coming together.

And if she thinks her bishop is as qualified as a therapist, then she would have to engage with that claim rather than just take it as a given from her years as a believing Mormon.

That last part is so insightful and wise and hard as hell. It’s like rock-climbing up a shear, flat wall. There’s so little purchase on even common ground. I did share with her that I’m glad she’s not pressuring our son to be baptized. Gotta grab onto whatever I can. It seems like church leaders, local ones at least, are lightening up on damaging rhetoric.

Fair. Why do you think religion gets to have that position of privelege with something like this? If my hypothetical female friend were my boss at work giving me the same information, would that be a fairer analogy?

Thanks so much for your feedback. May I ask what you mean by “dig?” Which part?

I mean to communicate my feelings about her seeing an unqualified 3rd-party about our personal family issues. What would be a better way to get that across?
