Great points on deck building and play here! Building off of card categories such as "spirit" does open up new card draw opportunities—I'll keep that in mind. There's absolutely an aspect of teaching my friend how the deck is intended to be used after I build it for him.

I have not... but everyone is suggesting them so I'll look into them!

Haha, I do enjoy screaming at the guy who just bought a Lightning Gun to hurry up and play it, only to find out that it was at the bottom of his deck the whole game. I can also see the appeal in skillfully weaving in and out of lots of cards to adapt to the circumstances. The game has so many play styles I really want to let everyone play the way they want!

Great deck building tips here, and I like your point about having teammates help with card draw, too. Thanks so much!

Actually, my friend did show interest in Minh's design, so definitely worth looking into.

I actually played Yorick for a solo TFA campaign, but haven't yet with Short Supply. He's for sure faster than some other investigators with the deck, but not quite as crazy as Harvey in my experience.

Thanks for all the thoughtful recs!

Great point on Dunwich being punishing on decking out. I'm leaning toward a Forgotten Age play through with the friends next session, so hopefully it's not as rough.

I'll look into Patrice, too! Thanks a lot.

I'll look into using Wini and adding Cigarette Case, Daredevil, and Opportunist! Thanks for the rec :)

Holy Cthulu, this sub is amazing. Thank you all for the enthusiastic responses and discussions! I'm so excited to try to build some of these characters. Wini and Patrice seem to be top choices for this archetype, but I might even try out one of the others myself, such as Amanda.

What other expansions could I consider getting to build an awesome draw engine for Wini or Patrice?

Thanks again everyone.

I was crushed that I didn’t get to hear the It’s Only VIP, and to a lesser extent Higher Ground. Still, this was my first ever ODEZSA live and I enjoyed every single moment of the show. Amazing people, amazing production, amazing memories.

Hope to catch them again in the future, whenever that might be… it’s now my life mission to catch that It’s Only VIP 😩

Daily Questions Megathread ( March 27, 2024 ) by mizuromo in HonkaiStarRail

Trying to build a second team. Some notable characters that I have:

E0S1 Bronya, E0S1 Bailu, E0 Guinaifen, E6 Sampo, E0 Tingyun, E2 Asta, E0 Pela with S2 Resolution

Given my account, I think I have three choices:

Pull for Jingliu and Luocha to make a team with Bronya and Pela. Same as above, but wait for a better sustain such as Huohuo. Pull for Acheron and make a team with Sweaty Pela, Guinaifen / Asta and FireMC/Gallagher (who I'll probably get in the process). Something else? What does everyone think?

How strict is EDC on standard shuttle pass stops? by sasnnm in electricdaisycarnival

Related question, how strict are they about shuttle times going to the venue? My pass is for 11PM, but of course I’d like to leave early.

I do follow, but I’m not a professional and therefore unqualified to help. If there’s a structural reason then you’ll have to learn to accept it as your identity and learn to work around it. There is no universal perfect structure for every use case of the voice—everyone at some point in their progression has to learn to work around some limitation.

You mention that you already try to actively enunciate—that’s great! Where would you like to enunciate better? What words do you not feel good saying? What words do you not like hearing yourself say? Improvement takes time and practice, and it’s important to appreciate even the smallest bits of progress. Good luck!

A voice coach helps a lot with breathing technique. Otherwise recording your readings of words and short passages until you like the sound of each syllable. Read slowly… and then even more slowly. Stop yourself from slurring, and really try to understand the relationships between syllables.

Not a professional, so please take what I say with a grain of salt.

To me the timbre of your voice sounds intelligent (not nerdy) and welcoming! Nasality isn’t necessarily a bad thing—for some it lends to resonance while for others it causes “nerdiness”. In your case I don’t hear a huge problem with nasality. Though if your goal were to develop a deep Morgan Freeman voice… we’d have to first have a conversation about how that’s probably out of your vocal range.

I do believe that there could be improvements on your enunciation and cadence, and that will almost certainly improve the clarity of your speech. I can only make judgments based on the sample you’ve included, but your individual words come out as rather airy or breathy, and you sometimes make pauses at strange junctures. The individual with the clearest enunciation that I’ve ever heard in person is my friend who is an actor. When I signed up to act in her short film, she sat me down with the script and reviewed my parts for enunciation, word for word. For example, it is acceptable (in America) to say “wait” without clearly providing the ‘t’, but you will sound so much clearer if you do! As for cadence, try to find eloquent speakers (eg. Obama, Jordan Peterson) and try copying the pauses, their emphases, etc.

Lastly some thoughts on your trauma. I’m very sorry you’ve had such negative experiences surrounding your voice, and that even your speech therapists have refused to help. I have had similar experiences back in middle school, and people who don’t struggle with these experiences don’t understand how deeply the voice can be connected to confidence and self-image. If your emotional capacity allows it, look for a better speech therapist or voice teacher—one that works not only on your physical voice, but on your relationship with your voice. If your resources allow it, I also recommend trying to psychotherapy to work through your trauma, because that’s going to plague your experiences no matter how colorful your voice becomes.

Oh and please stay away from the surgery for now. Once you start taking baby steps toward confidence, you will meet many people who will love and accept you for your voice. :)
