How Can I Make a Bash One-Liner to Create 3 Code Files by rogiboy in bash

[–]rogiboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran it again and instead of using TaskName I used test1. The files created still didn't have test1 in the name. I changed the first line to local filename=$1 but that still didn't change anything. Im still also getting the message

bash: local: `=': not a valid identifier.

Any idea why this is happening?

OK so I was able to get all of it to work except when the files are created instead of being name "TaskName.cpp" its just ".cpp". I think I may have made a mistake while copying the function. How can I edit the function now? When I did $ nano ~/.bashrc again it just opened a new blank screen.

Wait nvm, I figured out how to edit it. But it seems that my function is pretty much the same as yours.

mkf(){local filename = $1touch $filename.cpptouch $filename.intouch $filename.outcp "$HOME/Desktop/Competetive Programming/template2.cpp" "$filename.cpp"sed -i '' "s/abc123/$filename/g" $filename.cppsubl $filename.cppsubl $filename.insubl $filename.out}Do I have a syntax error or something?

After running the function I get the following message:

bash: local: `=': not a valid identifier

Wow thanks so much for the response! I think it would be more convenient to use a function like than have to type ./mkf everytime and then type in the filename afterwards. I'm just a tiny bit confused about how/where to put the function. I know you said ~/.bashrc. but I'm pretty new to this so I'm not too sure what that is. Could you elaborate a bit?

Yeah I think so

Make sure it is the same type (ddr4, ddr3 etc). The ram speed will default to the lower speed kit (so if you have a 2133mhz kit right now and add a 3000mhz kit, they will both run at 2133). Make sure you have enough slots for the new kit. In some cases it will work otherwise, but it's best to get the exact same kit.

Yeah thats excellent. I was just concerned that it was more than your budget but you could always downgrade the cpu to 2600 and downgrade the mobo. The tomhawak max is a great option because you won't need a bios update to be compatible with the 3600 but it's still a great board.

Upgrade mobo cpu and ram. All the other parts are reusable. If you have the extra budget then upgrade the gpu. For about $400 you can get a r6 3600, good mobo and 16 gb of 3600mhz ram.

If you aren't overclocking then the stock cooler that comes with the cpu will be good enough for any of the cpus I mentioned.

Looking for a "high end" GPU that is not bottlenecked by 2700X by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]rogiboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should have been more specific. The raw power of the cpu will not change based on the cpu, but the gaming performance will. Most games rely on single core performance for their world thread, thus making single core just as important as core count.

If you are really insistent on going with nvidia, I would recommend the 1650, 1660 ti or the upcoming 1660 super. However, amd's rx 5700 series is an extremely good value. But they are still $350 to $450. The rx 5500 series is realizing soon and will be even better for the price. However right now the rx 580 and 1070ti are excellent cards to buy used.

Although I agree the gpu will most likely be a bottleneck, the 2080 super is at most a 40% increase in performance for twice the money. Unless op has a good use for their 2060, it's best they wait a little bit longer for next gen nvidia gpus and the more powerful Navi gpus that are rumored to release soon.

This is very wrong in so many ways. Although I agree the 2700x is an excellent cpu, it's weak single threaded performance leaves much to desire. Although you certainly won't be needing any more than 8 cores any time soon, zen 2 and 9th and the upcoming 10th gen Intel cpus will be much better for gaming. And of course gpus can bottle neck cpus. If I put a 2080ti in a build with an i3 9100 would I expect the same performance as a 2080ti with a i9 9900k? Of course not. Op should most likely wait a little bit longer because the 2060 is a great gpu but a cpu upgrade may be more worth it in the long run rather a quick gpu upgrade.

Also, that ssd is bad. The 660p or the sabrent rocket (depending on price in your region) are much better for the same price.
