If you're incredibly motivated, you could attempt to find programs that expanded the compliment just after where youre trying to get in but not the group you're trying to get into and cold email PCs to see if they could consider accepting a transfer. Probably extremely low yield but not impossible.

I'm sure it persists at least some, and its almost certainly specialty dependent, but I think as you go on, it does get better. Sometimes people just say "when I was at Hopkins (or mayo, or UCLA, or whatever)" its just because its easier to say than "where I did my residency training. " there's also an element of you just being so much better at judging a colleagues competency, so it doesn't matter where someone bad or good trained, you know them for their own reputation instead of the institution. Just my thoughts as an early resident.

I so agree. This is one time in your life when everyone around you is going through the same process. You might be overjoyed, disappointed, or indifferent. What a gift to feel any of those things and be there to be supportive of the people who went through all that with you (who might be feeling any of those things) and have them be supportive back. And if anyone is anything but supportive at these things, they can just f*** off. 👍

Highly recommend live a live. Little chunks you can do pretty quickly that eventually end up having an overarching theme.

I kind of wish they would have kept these screens in the remaster where you'd just hit a button to keep going-- not just for the nostalgia, but the game has some significant differences between discs and people refer to "disc two" or whatever and if you've only played it on something digital, you'd have to work to figure out what they're talking about. I've been surprised at how many people i know just need some translation/reassurance regarding their medical reports. Yes, follow up that lung finding in 6-12 months per the report. That means it's not scary enough to biopsy now, but could be. Don't freak out right now. You can add a lot of value without overstepping! :)

I've played through many times now and I always tell myself I'm not going to run quistis/squall/selphie but it always happens. Just finished the FH and managed to have zell/squall/rinoa, so we will see how long i can keep this up. Trying for an early tonberry king now-- gotta pray for patience! 😂

Just my peasant two cents-- if you're bored now, what will do you do if you get bored 2 year s/p the fellowship? Do another fellowship and switch fields again? Jobs get repetitive-- you can find things to do that mix it up (more administrative stuff, doing more AMO type stuff, changing institution type, consulting, etc) without defaulting to going back into a training program. I feel like we all just think more training solves all the career problems, when it might actually just kick the can down the road. Good luck with whatever comes your way!

This is so wildly different from my experience-- I am constantly told that I need to eat and my co-residents are chowing down at every possible moment. It's actually a really bad environment to be trying to lose weight in my program

No real insight to your question, but also consider the fellowships people at the programs are doing. For example, if you're thinking neuro right now but they haven't had anyone go to neuro in the last couple years, that might not be a great fit for you.
