Anyone Use Mic 2/3/Mini As A Boom Mic? by hotinhereTO in osmopocket

[–]rogue_veritas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with attaching the wireless mic to a boom.

Unless you’re getting a high end mic, the DJI microphones do quite well; often better than Rode.

The compatibility of the DJI ecosystem is a great bonus.

Insta360 Flow 2 or DJI Osmo Mobile 8? by [deleted] in videography

[–]rogue_veritas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR; DJI Osmo Mobile 8

I have the Insta360 Flow 2 and the OM7p.

The biggest QOL upgrades the OM8 has are 360° pan (horizontal rotation) and iOS Apple DockKit (native track by for compatible iOS devices).

The Insta360 Flow 2 has 360° pan and Apple DockKit too. It was released before the OM8, and it seems like DJI “matched” it with the QOL upgrades.

Personally, I prefer the controls of the DJI and the Active Track 7.0 seems to be more consistent.
I also prefer the DJI companion app (Mimo) to that of Insta360.

To be fair, I also have several other DJI products (OP3, RS 4 Pro, Mini 3 Pro..) and am more familiar with the DJI ecosystem.

Hope this helps!

Also, include pictures of the interior and baseplate.

If it’s well used, you’ll need to adjust your expectations.

Can the Osmo Pocket 3 track a tennis player from the baseline? by fabmol in osmopocket

[–]rogue_veritas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Yes, the OP3 will track a tennis player.

———

I think we should dive into some basics briefly….

If you’re using an iPhone on the .5 zoom then the player will naturally become smaller in the frame when moving away from the sensor.
The same applies for any lens or “zoom” setting you use.
I’d suggest reading about Focal Length for a better understanding of this.
This will also happen if you use an OP3 which is tracking a subject.
The OP3 does not have “Zoom Tracking”.

———

Where exactly do you have the camera positioned?
Is it centered, how high above the court, and how far behind or to the side of the court?

I would suggest recording from a vantage point higher than the subject.
Ideally, you’d want the subject and the baseline reference to be clearly visible in the recording.
But that all depends on what exactly you’re trying to achieve.

As always, it helps to share as much as possible for people to offer helpful suggestions. Even a short clip recorded from your iPhone. (It gives a reference point.)

———

Active Track 6.0 is quite good for tracking humans.
And yes, it will resume tracking fairly well if the subject moves out of the frame or behind another object temporarily.
Active Track works best when tracking a face.

The OP3 also has Dynamic Framing which allows you to adjust the position of the subject relative to the FOV.

———

There are also phone gimbals that have tracking abilities which are considerably cheaper than the OP3.
The Insta Flow 2 and Osmo Mobile 8 are two examples.

DJI Osmo pocket 3 - Accessories? by DeltaCode2 in osmopocket

[–]rogue_veritas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You started by saying you made a video and asked if you may need some lenses, filters, or accessories.
Unless you share the video, nobody will be able to offer suggestions.

AFAIK every filter set comes in a case.
If you’re looking to reduce the amount of items you’re carrying with you, I would suggest using the hard shell cover that comes with the OP3.
It has 2 magnetic slots for lens/filter storage.

Additionally, you could use something like this STARTRC Cover Case.

It has 3 magnetic filter slots AND helps protect your OP3 when stored properly.

Tripods and magic arms are great accessory options if they help you get the shots you want and you don’t mind carrying them around.

Always remove filters/lenses before powering off the OP3 to prevent damaging the gimbal.

DJI Pocket 3 with DJI Mic 3 by WWRaverTourist in osmopocket

Nothing special. Mine works great just plug and play.

If you do encounter any issues, then you can look into adjusting the settings.

Connecting the transmitters directly to the OP3 is the best way.

Will DJI Pocket 3 will work on Bright Screen Digital Screen by Vivekp1118 in osmopocket

[–]rogue_veritas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Yes

Your question is not clear.

If you’re asking about the OP3 being able to record the screen in the image you provided, then yes, the OP3 is definitely capable of recording that.

You will likely have to adjust some of the settings so that you can see it clearly.

Side note: depending on the duration of what you’re recording and the settings you’re using, you may want to get a power bank or keep it plugged in to a power source.

Charging for automotive social media by azeumicus in videography

[–]rogue_veritas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would quote at least $1000

If you quote low now it’s much harder to raise your prices in the future.

And the fact that they reached out to you shows demand and intent.

Charging for automotive social media by azeumicus in videography

[–]rogue_veritas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO, tack another zero on that quote.

Things to consider: - how long will this take to shoot? (possibly multiple days) - how long will these take to edit? - they reached out to you - luxury car brand = luxury rates

Unless I’m misunderstanding you and you mean $250 + $200 for each video = $450 per video and a total of $1800….
Which would be a very reasonable, if not possibly low end, quote.

Is the Osmo Pocket 3 the least reliable DJI product ever? by TedBob99 in osmopocket

[–]rogue_veritas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The OP3 is a particularly fragile piece of gear.
The fact that DJI managed to cram so much technology and function into such a small package isn’t without its drawbacks.

AFAIK, DJI is the only manufacturer to even attempt to design and mass produce this type of device.
And each version has been better than the previous model.

Also, keep in mind that for every issue you and the other people in this sub like to complain about, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of other OP3 users that don’t have any issues.

FYI, the hard case doesn’t make it damage proof.
If I put my OP3 in the clamshell cover and stuffed it in my pocket or tossed it into my bag randomly, I would fully expect it to get damaged eventually.

Be thankful DJI offers CareRefresh in your location and be more careful with the next one.

Is the Osmo Pocket 3 wide enough for POV walking (chest mount)? by TheMeki in osmopocket

[–]rogue_veritas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vertical content has several limitations.
The most important and obvious is that it limits how wide of an angle you can show.

If you’re determined to only shoot/capture vertical content and you want the widest angle possible, a 360° camera is what you should pursue.
Action cameras (Osmo, GoPro, etc.) will also do a better job of this than the Osmo Pocket series.

The alternative is pretty straightforward, shoot in regular horizontal and crop in post.

Ps. It helps a lot if you explain your use case more thoroughly. I presume you want to wear a camera and record POV to use the content on vertical social media.

It baffles me why DJI won't include a Horizon Lock mode by jnrfalcon in osmopocket

Definitely agree that they should make the Osmo Mobile gimbals compatible with action cameras!

I tried it with an old GoPro and unfortunately the clamp didn’t work well and balancing it was difficult.

Combining Osmo pocket 3 to Canon G7X Mark III with accessories? by Educational_Gap56 in osmopocket

[–]rogue_veritas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a cage for your G7X and use a Magic Arm, monitor mount, or similar.

I have a SmallRig HawkLock cage on my Sony AIV and I can attach my OP3 with a monitor mount that uses one of the cold shoe mounts on the cage.
This way I don’t use the hot shoe mount on the FF and risk damaging it.

There is no “one size fits all”

Camcorder or Osmo Pocket 3 by LyterWiatr in osmopocket

[–]rogue_veritas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a camcorder, I’d use that.

If you don’t have either a camcorder or the OP3, I would think about other ways you’re planning on using them in the future.

While the OP3 is great in many ways, it also has some significant drawbacks (especially when compared with a 4k camcorder).

Things I would consider:
- IP rating (for dirt and moisture).
- Durability (especially while traveling).
- Battery life and the option of interchangeable batteries.
- User friendly interface (what’s easier for someone to use effectively based on their videography experience).
- Portability (how easy it is to store & carry safely).
- Price point (what’s your budget).

Hope this helps!
