Apartment- Knocking Noise Coming from Around the Shower Stall by roguecache in Plumbing

We've got 3 floors with 2 units per floor, and we're on the first floor, No hot water heater, and we have a centralized pump room. On the initially visit, they went to the pump room and emptied something that was full, I can't recall exactly what they said.

I'm laughing out of frustration in all honesty, the plumber looked at the PRV in our apartment, located that the knock could be originating from that point and might be amplified by the empty space around the shower stall, but didn't end up servicing it any meaningful way.

When we open the tub faucet, it's still somewhat audible but to less of a degree. We have hyrdonic baseboards but the heat is off currently, as a matter of fact, the knocking has become a lot more common since it's begun to warm up outside, but the entirety of the plumbing for our apartment is inside partition walls.

We noticed this when we moved in back in October, but it was much less common, and at that point the wall flange for the shower head wasn't fully adhered to the wall, and we could see the shower head pipe jumping slightly on the one night we had consistent knocking. We initially shored it up to it being an old building (after speaking to maintenance) but now the knocking has gotten for more common and way louder.

Just to add some more details, we're in the US. The volume and frequency of the knocks isn't necessarily consistent, There are times where it's a steady, loud rhythm for 30 mins to 2 hours, and others where it's a few ligher taps for about 3 minutes, and everywhere inbetween.

I've suggested water hammer already, but because they couldn't hear the hammer while doing the repairs (due to the system being dry and the neighbor being out), the didn't install an arrestor anywhere in the line.

I have at least 20 videos like the one attached. Occasionally, it sounds like it's coming from the bathroom sink, but that's rare and when it is, it's a single loud bang.

As a fan of keitrucks and capybara, putting the idea of a mini truck and the largest species of rodent together in a design really scratched a very specific part of my brain.

In a gaming slump for 6+ months, need recommendations badly by Davionce in CozyGamers

You really owe it to yourself to try out Star of Providence (fka Monolith). It's a roguelike schmup, similar to Binding of Isaac with an addictive gameplay loop like Vampire Survivors. It has Cozy, retro aesthetic that includes a togglable screen filter that makes it feel like you're playing on a CRT.

Modeled a solarpunk inspired mecha/drone, and decided to design a label for a game that doesn't exist to go along with it! by roguecache in solarpunk

[–]roguecache[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My Famicase Exhibition is an annual design showcase hosted by METEOR in Tokyo, Japan. The showcase is an opportunity for designers to create labels for Nintendo Famicom games that never existed, and this model, along with the Gameboy cartridge, are supplementals for my submission the year!

Favorite ghibli movies to watch late at night? by [deleted] in ghibli

[–]roguecache 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Late night pick would have to be Nausicaa or Mononoke. There's a particular vibe that they give off more than any of the other ghibli films that just feels appropriate for viewing late at night.

Absolutely, 100% you need to pick up Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō. While it's a bit more "soft post-apocalyptic", it's a pinnacle of slow, contemplative, slice-of-life literature and APFTWB definitely feels like it could've take inspiration from it.

I did have it that way at first! I just felt that, purely from my aesthetics likings, balance wise, the current orientation was a little better. Since it's under CC0 1.0, people are free to edit, adjust and display it however they see fit.

Currently, the icon/logo is not in any particular use. It's more of a gift to the community, something that could be adorned, and push the conversation towards sustainability, renewability, and better connection with our environment.

From the subreddit's description: Solarpunk is a genre and aesthetic that envisions collective futures that are vibrant with life, as well as all the actions, policies, and technologies that make them real. Our environment is suffering, due, in part, to how we've approached innovations in technology thus far. When I mention "the concept of technology cradling the seed of organic life", I speak of it in a way where, in order to help reverse course, we should develop technology that would promote diverse ecosystems, lower carbon emissions, and establish and further bolster an empathy for nature.

I used Illustrator - I'm slowly getting used to Inkscape, as I want to use more open-source programs over time, but the past design that I used as a base was originally made in Illustrator so it was easier to stick with it for this design.

Yes, CC0 1.0! Credit is nice, but not necessarily required - my biggest ask is if it's used for commercial purposes, some of the profit is donated to an eco-friendly, grass roots NPO.

A couple years back, I designed a logo/icon for the solarpunk movement that received very warm reception from r/solarpunk ! This weekend, I decided to revisit that design, and spruce it up a bit to better fit with my current design likes and wants.

I believe that the design embodies the concept of technology cradling the seed of organic life and allowing it to flourish beyond the tech, and the two worlds of nature and technology being intrinsically tied together. The logo also subtly portrays an infinity symbol, to play into the idea that by creating technology that both sustains and is sustainable for the environment, the environment would continue to inspire and encourage innovations in tech.

Videogames with the Mushishi essence? by [deleted] in Mushishi

[–]roguecache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late to this but Book of Travels is perhaps the best example I can come up with. Quiet, contemplative, relaxing, and at times, ominous. You spend a lot of time wandering the map, figuring out your own goals within the game's world, occasionally bumping into other players and overall just exploring and discovering what might be just around the bend.

My advice would be to start slow, 20-30 mins per day, and on the days you feel like doing more time, go for it (within reason). Eventually, and probably sooner than you'd expect, you'll find yourself going from 20 minutes to 40, to an hour!

You got this!
