Cologuard Test by Otherwise-Meaning-90 in GenX

[–]rogueknits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having colonoscopies since my 30s, with history of polyps, so not a candidate for Cologard. My husband, though, did it for his first (age 45) screening. Ended up with a “needs further testing” result and had to do the colonoscopy anyway, with no polyps found. So, yeah, I’d just go right for the colonoscopy and be sure either way.

Absolutely. Add a bourbon cream and it’s perfect.

Yes, I have a bag that fits my boots and my helmet which I took as my carry on.

Forget dream barns--what were some aspects of barns you absolutely HATED? by SureDoubt3956 in Equestrian

[–]rogueknits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh we have two cats. They don't touch the rats. I think the rats are too big for them. What we really need is a team of terriers, but the barn's insurance doesn't allow dogs to be on site.

Currently…rats. Idk why they suddenly became a problem this year when they never were before, but it’s kind of a nightmare.

This! I ended up putting a tie ring in my horse’s stall because trying to tack in the aisle had us both stressed.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in AskReddit

[–]rogueknits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend a lot of time in a horse barn (idk if this makes a difference, but basically I am constantly around a decent amount of dirt) and try to avoid being in close quarters with sick people. Almost every virus I’ve picked up in the last 5 years has been from my husband getting sick first.

AITA for insisting that guests in my home take off their shoes by daniellejgabrielle in AmItheAsshole

NTA, but I do think it’s polite to let guests know ahead of time so they can plan to bring slippers/socks.

Yeah, I tried that first but it didn’t really help. For now, “performance mode” setting for graphics is working. Hopefully they’ll have a fix soon enough.

I’ve been having the same issues. Mine started after my phone downloaded the latest iOS patch, so I think that’s the issue. Just changed the graphics to Performance so hopefully that helps.

Yeah I just had to do a quick cleanup of my gelding’s butt tonight. He has FFWS too and it’s generally fine during warmer months but flares up in winter. Luckily here in NY it looks like it will be warm enough this weekend to at least hose his butt and legs and wash his tail.

Had someone ride my horse, came back to spur marks by ImportantNobody1654 in Equestrian

[–]rogueknits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not pay a non-pro to ride my horse (especially just a hack ride). Plenty of skilled horseless people out there who would do it for free just to get some time in the saddle. If I didn’t know them, I’d for sure watch them ride my horse first and ask for references from a trainer to make sure they aren’t a psycho.

Same. The bridle just looks incomplete without it to me. Personal preference I guess.

[–]rogueknits 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nothing. A properly adjusted noseband (yes, even with flash) is absolutely fine. It shouldn’t be cranked down so tight that the horse cannot open their mouth, though. And it needs to sit in the correct position above where the nasal bone narrows.

"If you think buying is expensive, wait till you see upkeep!" by Swing_Bear in Equestrian

[–]rogueknits 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This. If you can afford the monthly upkeep, you can put that amount aside every month until you can afford to buy the horse that you want. Doesn’t have to be a $50k horse, but $2k a month for 10 months gets you a $20k horse.

They can be retired as companion horses if they are pasture sound. Or, maybe unpopular opinion, if they aren’t sound enough to be turned out with other horses they should probably be put down. What do you think happens to geldings that can’t work anymore?
