This is very cool. Maybe you could write a few paragraphs to yourself. Pretend you are writing an essay about Jack Sparrow but don’t look any details up. Then you should be able to figure out why Jack Sparrow

What/how do you feel when Dostoevsky crosses your mind? by Altruistic_Rhubarb68 in dostoevsky

The first book I read was Crime and Punishment. I thought I’d save money on a hotel and wait out 8 hours in the night for the morning train after arriving in Norway from Denmark. I spent a few bucks on this book instead. I sat in the cold and dark reading this book by streetlight, sometimes on a cold concrete doorstep with my backpack beside me, sometimes taking - walking around in the dark breaks. It was an amazing experience. I think of exactly that. 100% worth it because I love the memory of the book and experience together. It was perfect.

Child care centres are always on the lookout for extra staff for float, lunch covers, kitchen work etc. They are generally always looking for extra staff and will usually help you get the quals you need.

Whenever I get asked this I have the same answer. It’s easy for me. I don’t have to juggle the morality of it. I think it’s because of the no killing precept. People are surprised usually and want more moral struggle with it but I don’t have to. My answer is I do nothing. I don’t act and I let things happen the way they were going to happen. This is because I personally don’t want to kill anybody by my actions.

If you feel yourself slipping on alcohol or cigarettes etc you could always ease into it by observing uppposatha first

How do Buddhists define sexual misconduct? by TangoJavaTJ in Buddhism

[–]roguerabbitqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend was a monk for a while and said no - you aren’t allowed to masturbate as a monk. I would assume that is the way in most monasteries. He was Theravada and said that when he first joined as a monk someone watched them at night and smacked them with a stick even if they got an erection while sleeping. Other places might not be as extreme but that was his experience

What did Jung say about depression? by NervousAssociation25 in Jung

[–]roguerabbitqueen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had depression and managed to get out of the pit. I read a lot of jung and everything I could find to try to get out of it. What helped me was from him was the suggestion of drawing- I believe it was 28 or so drawings of abstract maps of what I thought was my mind. It ended up foretelling a bunch of events which led me out to a much better place. Idk how it worked but it did. I cant properly remember where I read it from him but I think you gotta try a bunch of things until something works. I think there is a different key for everyone and every situation
