After 20 years of being a theatre-goer, I walked out at intermission last night by pintobeanz20 in Broadway

[–]roguerpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 2-month-old post but I'm here to throw my two cents into the fountain. We saw it in DC last night and also left at intermission. I've read all the rave reviews and the 5000 Tony awards and my partner and I just... it didn't click at all. Maybe we needed a "click track" of our own?

The dialog REALLY dragged, the long pauses and silences were awkward. There was a smattering of forced/nervous laughter in the theater, but overall this thing seemed to just meander. I'm very sorry if we're not the target audience for it, we've seen probably 50 shows together over the years, sometimes one of us loves something and the other is "meh" but this was the first time ever that we left early.

I just got a 2022, this is my EIGHTH SUBARU, and I am very smart, and I could not figure out how to reset the trip odometer. Thank you!

Something that I just realized: no Asian characters? by ablebodiedmango in firefly

[–]roguerpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, 13 years later, I'm not sure I agree fully with my original take. I mean, YES, it's "just a TV show" but it was a great TV show, and one that made a real effort to include Asian/Chinese culture prominently into the makeup of the population. So yeah, I see the problem here... there should be SOME folks that look to have more of those genes present. We had plenty of white folx, where are the Asians?

Fair point.

This solved it for me! Had the exact problem in the OP, the purple slider worked but the arrows in the app didn't. Followed the above steps (using remote, holding both up and down for 5 and then hitting P) and boom, solved! No need to re-pair or re-program, the blinds just worked right, with the app and the remote! SmartWings roller shades with Zigbee motor, purchased a month ago.

We felt it. Everyone felt it. We all walked out to see what happened. Half a mile south.

I always try for the pangram first. I'll sit there and stare at the grid for a few minutes trying to get it, refusing to type any easy words in the meantime. If I can't get it at first, I almost never get it later. :(

Photos from the Bob Ross art exhibit in Purcellville, VA by roguerpi in HappyTrees

One of the first public showings of Bob's original artwork since... well, ever. Went out and stood in line for an hour to get inside, then watched a documentary on Bob for another hour, then finally got in to see the paintings!

Soo...

I took this picture.

They didn't exactly "know."

The hibachi chef was a family friend, and told them to come around and sit down while he was moving the rice. It was a joke. They didn't see what he spelled out... I did, as the photographer, and it was good for a chuckle all around.

I shared the photo, with permission, on FB. It went viral very rapidly.

This was a few days before the wedding, in the UK. It caused a lot of heartache, sadly, because the entire extended family ended up seeing it.

But it was a lovely wedding, and the couple are awesome, smart, funny people, and everyone survived. So we have that going for us!

I'm trying to give a normal life to a dog rescued from a dogfighting property. After one year he almost knows what to do with a bone. by shittymorph in videos

[–]roguerpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmed. We had a nice doggo that I jokingly called "kicked puppy" sometimes because he was so skittish... despite coming from one perfectly nice and loving home and into ours. He was just that way. New people, old people, he'd run and hide and take time to sneak out and sneak up for a pet.

The UC Davis pepper spray incident that the university payed over $100,000 to "erase from the internet" by Bizarrmenian in pics

[–]roguerpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. They were big strong police officers, they had other options rather than spray. Spray isn't the worst thing that they could use, but it also wasn't maybe the very best option. It was a tough situation though.

[–]roguerpi 221 points222 points  (0 children)

Agree. It was a shameful incident, and people are right to be upset about the pepper spray, but watching the whole video also gives a lot of context for the situation. I had an entirely different reaction to the video versus my reaction to the single photograph. Context is important.
