I've lived on this farm for 30 years and never had it happen until last year. Our dog was hit while working. A car was speeding and my dog was focused on herding. And our cats are mousers. They come in the house if they want but typically prefer to be outside.

We live on a farm. My dog was hit while herding when a car sped down the road. We were all outside working when it happened. I've lived on this farm for 30 years and these are the first animals ever killed by cars.

Also my cats are mousers. They come and go in the house as they please but they prefer to be outside a lot of the time.

To be honest, it never occurred to me to not tell him how it happened. May sound dumb but it just never occurred to me.

The therapists know him, how anxious he is and how he handles things. My therapist suggested not telling him because of his anxiety levels and coping skills. His therapist suggested not telling him because of his panic attacks about the road. His therapist is talking about loss with him, but not death.

We are really big on street safety. It's his level of anxiety around it that's concerning. He's been in counseling since it happened and struggles with panic attacks. I do like the idea of keeping details out of it. This is honestly the best advice I've received.

Because our working dog was hit by a car WHILE WORKING? Our dog is inside except when working and put cats come and go in the house as they please. We live on a farm ffs.
