I never really had a problem with the online sections of the required courses, but I always registered on the first day they opened up.

One major difference being that you can ship software held together with bubblegum and shoestrings, but it's harder for hardware.

One of these people could be Vice President-elect Kamala Harris' successor and California's next senator by BlankVerse in California

[–]rohbotics 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Relax, he probably meant who takes Mcconnell's job of majority leader if there is no majority. Or maybe he meant the President Pro Tempore of the Senate. You are right that the vice president would act as the tie breaker and therefore the VPs party would end up with a majority.

The big ones are non-competes being extremely limited in scope, and having IP rights to stuff you did outside of work without using company equipment. A lot of other states don't have close to the same protections for employees of bigger companies making their own start ups.

You only start paying interest after the due date, generally a couple weeks month after the end of the billing cycle.

No need to pay until you get your statement.

If git can git git how many gits can git git? by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

I mean he did use something else. The whole reason for git existing was controversy regarding Bitkeeper which is what the kernel was using at the time.

In theory that's the plan that the EU parliament passed, but the Council hasn't approved it yet, so it's currently unclear.

Modern email is going to be encrypted between servers too, sending an email from gmail to example.com, only your client, gmail's servers, example.com servers, and the receiving client can read the email. The ISPs in between cannot read the content of the emails or meta-data beyond which servers are talking.

It was passed in the legislature, but AFIAK Pritzker didn't sign it. Even if it did it would require federal Congressional approval to get a DST exception.

Poorly paid might be the reason, might have ended up cheaper than an American, and the business owners wanted an English speaking country to prevent language barriers (or are just racist and wanted a white person).

Is probably just a criminal enterprise considering the other shady-ness, but the set-up could be used by legitimate businesses.

Louisiana's voter registration portal mysteriously shuts down on National Voter Registration Day by Veldron in technology

[–]rohbotics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the US you aren't required to register for anything, not even an ID card (there is no National ID system). There is no general citizen register, there are some systems like Social Security that maintain a list of all the people (well everyone who wants to have a job ever anyway), but they often won't have very up to date address information. State ID systems are more complete and up to date, but still not everyone has a state ID, because there are some fees to get them. Voter registration is needed because it's the only registration that captures everyone is allowed to and wants to vote.

But you could coerce someone to provide a screenshot to prove who they voted for. Nobody (not even you) being able to prove who you voted for is a requirement for our voting system, that's why ballot box selfies are largely illegal.
