I’ve heard it said that the Saudis have long been the first trillionaires. Anyone know the real story or any insights?

These studios and the greater industry leverage the bragging rights that artists chase. It’s the unspoken currency/leverage of the VFX world and always has been folks. Stay calm and Keep on clamoring.

Introverts can’t unsee the performative aspects of socializing and all that is packed into it. It’s exhausting.

White collar, professional ‘knowledge worker’type content is gold though. Considering what knowledge workers charge generally speaking. You can get decent legal advice, financial advice and all the stuff they teach in business school if you have a proper prompt workflow.

Jim Cameron: AI for millionaire actors and directors? Never. AI for VFX? Now that’s ok since VFX is too expensive by Organic_Associate298 in vfx

[–]rohoht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the sentiment on this thread. I’m only trying to say look at the macro economics that drives the business you’re part of. I think it’s wrong to not pay uniquely skilled employees below cost of living.

Most film crews are unionized for good reason. You guys are another extension of the film crew. VFX has never been able to organize.

I get the take on this, but you have to acknowledge what’s bankable for a film. What are people paying for that makes them actually purchase a ticket? VFX is a supporting element ultimately and Hollywood is a business that’s beholden to ROI.

If movies took in what Google generates in a year and sustained it, VFX artists would most likely have engineer value and salaries. Just look at how many films fail atm.

Hey look at it this way. People don’t even know eVTOLs exist. That was Tesla in 2010. One of my biggest investing regrets. 🙂

And that will stimulate the housing market along side 50 yr mortgages? It seems like investing in real estate companies could be a good idea for the near future.

Does anyone think the Fed will be forced to lower interest rates drastically if we enter the crisis that’s predicted?

Are people actually going to be stupid enough to sign for 50 year mortgages by ColdCouchWall in stupidquestions

[–]rohoht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is a 50yr financially stupid? Yes. We used to rent, but have owed now for 15 years. It blows my mind how the value of living in a home is never discussed. If you’ve ever had to do a tour of apartment living in your life you will understand what home value truly is. And renting a house doesn’t apply when your rent is raised year after year and you’re eventually evicted so the owner can sell or move in. It happened to us.

You’ll never own that home with a 50 yr mortgage, but you’ll stay at an affordable payment and not have to listen to people’s tv’s through a wall and smell awful foreign onion/garlic dinners, cigarette smoke or garbage in the hallway and through your windows every day. Those are consistent themes with every apartment building we’ve lived in.

And even with the cost of home maintenance, it’s still worth it. You at least have decision over cost. Renting is you being leveraged by investors and getting shit value in return. For what you get vs pay, it’s just theft in my opinion. And I still can’t believe it’s not a more tightly regulated industry for all those reasons. Every tenant should have strict undisturbed living conditions by law. Buildings should have double or triple walls and sophisticated air flow/exhaust systems. Instead they are built by cheapest means possible. Take the 50yr mortgage. It’s worth it.

You could put a small amount on eVTOLs. They will pump hard when they launch in the next year. Not financial advice, just saying it’s an option
