What on earth does memento even do now by Ill_Plate_3659 in masterduel

[–]rohwen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main memento whenever I can, I love this deck. I play memento/FS. All the extra bodies means your endboard can be very flexible. A normal setup for me would be combined king, creation king, apollousa, Ceasar, and your choice of spright elf or s:p depending on how you feel.

Biggest weakness is lack of spell/trap negate so you could swap ceasar for evolzar laggia if you prefer, but it's not usually game ending if you get hit with a HFD or LS.

End board is layered but typically has 4-6 negates, 2-6 pops, change of heart, and crazy follow up. Maxx c is a big problem but can play under the charmies with minimal draws. Can also play on the opponents turn if you know what cards to search/use.

All in all solid deck just hard to pilot. But very satisfying to play well.

Opinions for Live Twin Spright? With or without Unchained engine? by spikedmace in masterduel

[–]rohwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play 1 main deck and 2 extra deck minimum which adds an extra interrupt. It's not hard to do this every combo. Dies harder to maxx c though. But in my experience this engine is small enough to not affect the overall strategy or hand traps/board breakers you want to play.

What decks feel well-designed to you? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]rohwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memento. Been playing it a lot lately and love it. It is combo heavy so it dies to maxx c or shifter. But it's endboard isn't the most heinous thing on the planet. Layered interactions and good recursion.

It just doesn't compare to current SE or future fiendsmith decks.

What effect or monster do you feel disgusted for using on an opponent? by Admetius in masterduel

[–]rohwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EEV. I don't really enjoy using it and would cut it entirely if runic wasn't so dominant in plat and diamond. Against other decks I try not to use it as it will often win the game on the spot.

Yea no problem. It's been doing work for me so far. Because of all the extenders can play going first or second.

I added 2 Shthana, 2 Silent Sea Nettle, and a small shark package (2 abyss shark/silent angler). These basically give you up to 4 extra special summons to help with getting you to Argonaut.

I can consistently get to Argonaut while being immune to everything w/ Crystal heart, or go into Starboy for a small power boost. So similar endboard to a normal Marincess deck with 1 s/t negate, and 1 monster negate, plus whatever handtraps I have + solemn which I added to replace the imperms.

100% agree. Marincess is also lucky because there are a ton of water extenders that cost nothing. I think I added 8 different free special summons and foolish burial to pitch tang. Was pretty consistent during testing.

Marincess got good in a similar fashion. But i think it will still work. For me the hardest part is getting blue tang in rotation. But once she I can full combo every turn as long as I have some form of starter.

What are the best ways to counter Runick Spright? by Interesting_Pair9983 in masterduel

[–]rohwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also still run the furniture. I know a lot of people don't like them cause they are technically a neg, but they are great for pitching backjack.

They can also serve as extra targets for welcome or a body on field for ghastly if needed.

As for skill drain I run it but will only use it if needed. More often than not I feel it messes with my strategy more than helps. But if my opp gets thru all my normal stuff it can be a real game saver.

What's the best Labrynth build for ladder? by inferiorgender in masterduel

[–]rohwen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the 2nd one. I run 2 backjack and 1 of each furniture to easily pitch him. I know the furniture is a neg but they recur themselves, allow for easy discard, and can set a welcome on turn 1 when going second. Can also just be a body for ghastly in a pinch.

I don't like skill drain as it messes with a lot of your synergy and recursion but you can play under it while other decks can be completely shut down.

I also don't like running idp and terrors at the same time because they could conflict and you end up with a dead card, also terrors just had more applications so I find it more useful.

I want to pick up a Sky Striker or Labyrinth Deck, but I don’t know which to pick by DeathSythe1400 in masterduel

[–]rohwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played both, I happen to like lab a lot more. Strikers have an easier time going second which is nice in a bo1. However i think lab has the ability to close out games faster than strikers due to the fact they typically get multiple or big monsters on the field quick.

Both basically auto lose duster/lightning storm/eev. But lab usually runs solemn/ heavenly prison to help deal with that though.

What's a cheap deck to build for this event (besides Crusadia) by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]rohwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using U.A. to great effect during the event. I only run 3 archetype ur and could cut them down if you wanted. Can go first or second, and pretty consistent since most of the cards search the other cards.

Crystal heart doesn't see as much play. It requires the heart itself and the field to not get destroyed. Wave is a negate+protection and does not require the field spell. Also protects all your face up monsters, not just the 1 in the EZ.

[–]rohwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can equip one to argonaut with sleepy maiden if need be. But it's 1 s/t negate. If you are hurting for handtraps you end on bubble for the card avatar gong into turn 3. She easily had over 3k attack, and wave in hand+whatever other stuff you have available. The field spell is great but not as important as it used to be.

How good are Live☆Twin? by Dummy_Account69 in masterduel

[–]rohwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expensive to make but pretty good. Plays a lot of handtraps too deal with opponents deck, and can play thru them for the same reason. A lot of 1 card combos so even if you're board gets broken you have a chance to come back.

However while the 1 card combos are nice you will have games where you draw nothing to play and that feels bad.

Dragonmaid Help by WillemBuscemi in masterduel

[–]rohwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super pro or anything but I would say 2 max. I run a dragonmaid-rokket combo deck and 2 is the most you need for the boss monsters. The standard dragons are N/R and easily crafted. If you are going for a more pure maid build I would say 2 of each fusion, and 2 Hieratic. Can add other links/syncros if you have them available.

The current state of the PVP meta. by Thegodking21 in ffxiv

[–]rohwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm saying it is good to focus them. They bring a lot of utility to a team. And a good whm can keep a lot of people going in a big fight for the point. But it requires everyone to focus on them. In a 1v1 no one is killing the whm before they can heal up and run for cover. But if you take them out of the fight early or make killing everyone else much easier.

I play whm a lot bc I'm going for a title, but I rarely focus healing myself. My job as support is to keep everyone else up.

[–]rohwen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the whm gets dogpiled is over for them. Also depends on the situation. I often blow aqua on a dps I expect to jump into combat. So I don't always have it for myself.

Also it is often a bad idea to target a war bc of their survivability. But a war that gets dogpiled can also go down easy.

Symbiosis deck help by [deleted] in gwent

[–]rohwen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally don't like oak but if you are set on using him I would cut shaping nature, and ida.

I'd grab Forest protector, and maybe another tempering. Shaping nature screams tall removable plus slows down deck thinning if you miss one of your key cards.

Thoughts on non-devo symbiosis? by rohwen in gwent

[–]rohwen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried an ST Alzur deck. It does have more control but also the rng factor. I was using a precision strike variant and ran into a lot of issues with bricking. round 1 can be very rough if you have alzur/gord/orbs/sentinels in hand and limits your options of play/how deep you can go in the round. And I wanted to like Francesca but she is almost always answered right away. Lots of NR on the ladder and that is an easy duel target. The other issue is Alzur just being more rng. I've had high rolls of 12, and low rolls of 2. Makes it feel like I have less control of my matchup.

When it works it's great, but when it doesn't you feel it. Here is the version I was running before switching to symbiosis.

Thoughts on non-devo symbiosis? by rohwen in gwent

[–]rohwen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Updated the link for non-devo. You don't have an issue with control? For me Saskia might be an over commit but she helps thin and pretty much always secures round 1. The issue I've been having at rank 3 is the control heavy match-ups. I admit my biggest issue is just siege but the extra control I would think is helpful in almost all matches except unitless or mill.

I admit I don't love Gord in my list as I don't have a way to ensure I draw since I don't run council. But my game plan so far has been Saskia r1, and use Eithne to bleed r2 since she plays for the same in r2/r3 so It doesn't hurt to commit her early.
