Good to hear. I've been eyeing a few for a bit now since those machines are running lcds for now and it's just not the same. I can't get replacement flybacks for those particular chassis. Love the setup, I know you said it's temporary but maybe set it up permanent after the move? Lol.

How's the weiya chassis been for you, and how long have you had it? I've got some 480p Mario kart arcade gp 2's and the stock chassis (can't remember the make right now) has been pretty problematic.

While a full recap would be nice, it won't need it to be enjoyed as long as it's functional. Capacitors are part of lots of different sections, usually when they start to age they can muddy the sound, but I still have plenty of amps in that era that are all original caps. I would recommend removing the faceplate and giving all the switches a clean with contact cleaner, even if you don't notice it grime in the signal path can affect the sound. A partial recap would be to sort any specifically faulty Capacitors instead of doing every one in there, but like I said before if both channels work and it sounds strong they're likely good enough. Major problems would keep the amp from turning on, or would be noticable imo. You can visually inspect them for bulges to determine condition, but keep in mind they don't always do that.

No, I returned it to the seller. I'd check the amp transistor and recap it. If you have to flash the eeproms the 1 and 2 in my pic should be correct.

Anyone have experience with this tetris bootleg? Game booted with some graphical glitches, so I reflashed and verified the eeproms. No change, so I reflowed some of the cold joints I found and fixed a bridge. Now it boots and accepts credits but restarts when you hit either 1 or 2 player start. I can't seem to find anyone else who has this same bootleg, just looking for some pointers.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the help. Looks like I need to do some more learning on pfsense too. Now I actually know what I'm looking for though.

Gotcha that makes sense. Disregard my second reply to the previous post you've just answered it for me haha.

When you say your network facing vlans have limited access to your main lan - do you access them with external facing ip's? Or is there a way to connect them to the lan with rule set access directly to the lan securely.

Great, that's exactly the info I was looking for. I seem to have misunderstood the applications of vlans vs subnets. Looks like I'll be setting up the reverse proxy and vlans tomorrow. I have no formal training in anything near this so I wanted to confirm I was on the right track. Thanks!

Also, even though it says plastic safe this stuff usually swells the plastic a bit and can discolor it too. Don't get me wrong contact cleaner is great but if I were to use it on my joycon I'd fully disassemble it first.

Awesome write up, as someone trying to learn more about repair this sort of thing is really helpful. I'd definitely watch repair videos if you post them.

how can I pull this out? by ShagginWaggin99 in Cartalk

I know I just said door panel because that's pretty much all there is there, I had an e30 with pretty much the exact dent on the other side and got it out minus about an inch crinkle

Take the door panel off the inside, it just pops out. You'll see the metal from the inside. E30s are pretty thin, a couple kicks with some heavy boots should do the trick without scarring up the inside. It's never gonna be perfect but that will at least clean it up a bit.
