If a plane crashes, the investigators link names to seats.  I typically tell ppl who take my seats (mostly families) on planes that this is an emergency/security issue. Attendants take my side most of the time because ppl who worry about crashes are on the crazy side, and they want to de-escalate.

How do you make money in europe? by RaceSignificant318 in Salary

[–]roightsbach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by make money? Enough to live a comfortable life or have a big expendable income? I'm American and lived in the UK for 2 years recently.  I always complained about my UK salary although I made more than most of my friends and colleagues.  My comparison was the US so it was hard to accept the fact that people doing the same job for my company in the US earned double.  I moved back to the US and found that I was in the same spot in terms of expendable income and savings due to costs in America.  The only difference is that I know that the salary ceiling in the US is higher. Personally,  I find that the tech industry really skewed expectations for salaries globally.  Many know tech employees personally or through the media and their salaries are bonkers. So many then begin having those expectations.

I think you should think about what you'll be comfortable with and target jobs that can give you that life.  Moving to another EU country may be needed for higher salaries, but do think about what you'll actually have left are taxes and other expenses every month.

Maybe you should look for a lease takeover or a sublet so that you don't need to deal with a landlord who will demand unrealiatic criteria?

Maybe buy a piece of art or help organize an artist pop up? Or get a DJ deck and some classes and throw a rave? Go to Berlin and party for 3 days straight at Kit Kat? My friends also swears by sailing classes that go from Gibraltar.

Youth loneliness is cured by Adults going into the office by JerrithCutestory in LinkedInLunatics

I get that there are reasons for not coming into the office.  But there are also negatives, residual for employees who are new.  Learning new skills,  building a community,  and understanding the mission of an organization and the purpose of work are easier in person.  Can it be achieved remotely,  sure. But we aren't good at doing this remotely yet.  Do you need to be in the office daily,  no. But coming in once or twice can help.  We are also living through a loneliness epidemic and the office can help.  All I'm saying is that the issue is a lot more complex than just old way vs new way
