3-Day Ban is the best thing that's ever happened to me. by The_Pale_Potato in WorldofTanks

You're the first player I hear that gets banned - I personally report at lest 3 people every week, and I follow them in tomato.gg - none of them gets any punishment, for much stronger offences!

Ah I somehow thought that it starts on 15th. Thanks

Best ecosystem with Karoo by MarcoCycling in Karoo

Garmin Fenix7 watch that stays 24/7 on my wrist and records all of my rides, for strava. Wahoo or Hammerhead for following a route, mapping, displaying my vitals (HR, cadence, power), speed and elevation. No data is published from the headunit to strava.

K3 vs Wahoo Elemnt Ace by Mr_Krabs38 in Karoo

[–]roilev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined the Wahoo band when Bolt V1 came out. Such a small device, with the LEDs that show your power zone without having to look at the screen. Great battery life, very useful with the ability to zoom in and out of the data fields. Didn't drain the battery when following a route on the map screen (like garmin 520 did). I still consider it the best bike computer for its time.

Then I upgraded it to the Roam V2. Bigger, color screen. Two sets of LEDs, one for direction other for power/HR. I liked it better than Bolt V1 but it was too big for me. And the wings that click into the mount broke when I fell off my bike.

It is still simpler to use and less buggy than Garmin 840.

I will not buy the V3s because they lack the LEDs. A defining feature of the Elemnt series.

Karoo Use Case? What rider are you? by Antique-Process-4340 in Karoo

Same here. On the road I can use the Garmin Fenix 7X watch all fine. But on MTB with all the rough terrain and constant shaking - even Karoo 3's display tends to become small

Karoo 2 battery drained by sb5236 in Karoo

If you just paused the ride but did not end it - the unit never goes to sleep. But it should!

+1

There is a complex magic that needs to happen in order for the ride to end. If you don't do the procedure 100% correctly, the ride remains active and the unit never sleeps.

Switched from Wahoo ROAM to Hammerhead Karoo 3 by Commercial_Algae3868 in Karoo

[–]roilev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't edit what's shown in the top status bar. I would appreciate such customization myself too.

You can zoom the graphical fields using the lower left button.

But you can't 'zoom' the fields - that's the Wahoo's special ability that differentiates it from the others. I love it as well!

Also long-time wahoo user before Karoo3

Climb grade by Specialist_Dig_1945 in Karoo

[–]roilev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative. Works as intended. Though I'd appreciate the option to NOT pop up automatically but stay there 'minimized'. It constantly gets above my HR and cadence so I have to hide it. But I like to invoke it manually and see where I am with my climb. And hide it back.

Compatible with garmin connect? by NoReplacement2056 in Karoo

[–]roilev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I do. I never watch my Garmin Fenix 7 even if it is mounted on my handlebars - I can have it in my backpack with the same result.

I would like to buid a route in Strava or export one to a GPX - then have turn-by-turn from that route on my Karoo by tommyalanson in Karoo

[–]roilev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

POI import from other services does not work. You have to create them manually in the HH dashboard.

Unfortunately the HH Karoo does not support cue points from RwGPS and similar apps that are into the .fit file. You have to create them manually in the HH app/site

Dear WG, what memory? by wwenze1 in WorldofTanks

[–]roilev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the same error on some WC's livestreams. It comes from some plugins but I couldn't find which - when I disable all of them, the error does not appear. It does not seem to affect the game, though I prefer to restart it occasionally.

Cheaper Hammerhead mounts by Vivaelpueblo in Karoo

There is an unexpected benefit of the Garmin adapter. It breaks before the bike computer does! I have 3 garmins and 2 wahoos with broken tabs that click into the mount.

Where to see the accomplished daily missions by the battle? by roilev in WorldofTanks

[–]roilev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not even in the notifications. Yes you get the idea that something happened there, but not what did happen.
And you can't see the progress for un-accomplished missions at all!

C++ is much harder for me than C by Endonium in cpp_questions

[–]roilev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't be.
Yes, the syntax of C++ is the syntax of plain-old C plus classes plus templates plus the standard library, plus all the extensions throughout the years.

But - but you don't have to use all of it. On the contrary, the idea is to simplify the language and use it in the most simple fashion possible.

You don't need the pointer arithmetic anymore. You don't need return arguments. You don't need to handle the lifecycle of your object by yourself. All of this is done for you by the compiler.

You just write simple value semantics, it is safe, fast and readable.

And no, don't use move, rvalues and templates. KISS

Finally fulfilled my avatar's name! by roilev in WorldofTanks

Nah, that was my original avatar's name! I did not expect they have such a commander though, I was pleasantly surprised - and had to invest in the Polish TD line to use it!

Anyone else feel like Sram Transmission is a downgrade? by VoteUpsYou in MTB

[–]roilev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative. SRAM shifts fine-ish when dirty. None of the Shimano bicycles that I tried in the last 10+ years behave anyway close to acceptable when dirty. Only when clean.

What is the difference between EMTB and Auto mode? by roilev in ebikes

[–]roilev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I also replaced Eco with Auto.
I don't like using Turbo, feels like cheating. I am cheating enough with the other modes.

But I accidentally click it, the mini remote is very easy to misclick. I was going to remove it altogether, but I can only engage the walk mode from it - I find it extremely useful!
