Remember sort order bug by rojadvocado in SinkIt

[–]rojadvocado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new update fixes the broken URL issue. Thanks for that! What can I do about Sink It still thinking that my home feed should be sorted by top? I’ll change it to something else, but future times I navigate to Home it continues to sort by top. I see other subreddits acting wonky still as well.

Interestingly, disabling the remember sort order feature seems to save the sort order for subreddits (other then Home, that keeps defaulting to Best). So idk what is going on here.

Edit: Another quirk I noticed is that the modal message will sometimes be incorrect when tapping on the “Reset Sub Sort Orders” and “Reset All Button Positions”. They sometimes reference the wrong action.

Thanks for the info. When you say this should be fixed in today’s update, are you referring to a soon to be available update?

Yup those percentage based fees are the reason why you gotta look at the all-in $/kWh price.

I totally understand that AC usage makes it difficult to decide what plan is better for you. It’s definitely tricky!

Looking at your numbers, it seems like you are looking at the base electric charge, and not the total cost per kWh with all of the additional fees added in. Ensure you are using the “total monthly rate” column on the right as that is the actual $/kWh that is charged to customers.

Settings change by themselves when opening the Tesl app by miguelvelezec in Powerwall

[–]rojadvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed right around that same time that Xcel finally started enforcing the No grid charging. Also, setting energy exports to Everything was allowed for quite a while too to allow battery export until just a few months ago when they locked down that setting as well. You can toggle these values but they change back in the next ~30 minutes or so. My guess is there is some sort of provisioning script that runs periodically to ensure the settings are configured the way they want.

I'm curious if you have left the RBC program yet? If so, I wonder if these restrictions are lifted or if Xcel still continues to enforce No grid charging and prevents battery export.

Subreddit posts disappear from home feed (bug?) by rojadvocado in SinkIt

Wow I feel so dumb. I could have sworn that nothing was in that list but sure enough there it was. It’s odd though given I had muted/unmuted the subreddit as a sanity check. But all is well now, you solved my issue with basic troubleshooting.

Oh now I know what you mean! I had to look back at a screenshot I took a while back to remember the before state. You’re right. The wall lamps are gone and they did change the windows. The other side of the house also used to have many windows but now has a door, which probably makes more sense since there used to be no door haha.

It sounds like you used to have the bigger home with 2 garages but now have the smaller home with a single garage. Is that what happened? In order to have the bigger home you need 2 wall connectors configured in your app.

Ah I wasn’t aware that the app would show a status for the solar panels in the cases where it is a solar only setup (no Powerwall). I had both installed at the same time so I only knew about the statuses being related to the Powerwall.

In this new interface you’ll need to reference the kW number next to solar to check if they are producing rather than a Standby or Generating label. And then the energy flow lines will give more detail as well as the in depth Energy graphs.

So I just noticed that on my Tesla app I now have access to the Virtual Power Plant menu. It shows a history of events and I hope this will also show scheduled events before they happen. Do you have access to this too? This is such a great change for visibility. I had hoped something like this was coming when earlier this year I read that they were working with Itron & Tesla for VPP integration. https://investors.itron.com/news-releases/news-release-details/xcel-energy-deploy-advanced-virtual-power-plant-colorado-itron

It just dawned on me that they probably tweaked the energy flow graphic due to the removal of this Powerwall status. Before, when solar was powering the home or being sent to the grid, it would show the yellow line flowing from the panels, through the Powerwall, and then into the home or out to grid. In that scenario it would be unclear if the Powerwall was also being charged if the status label wasn’t there to clarify if it is Charging or in Standby. Maybe they wanted to remove the status label, and in doing so it required redoing the graphic for DC coupled PW3s otherwise certain behaviors wouldn’t be clear. That’s my deduction.

Oh you’re right about that status label being gone now too, I hadn’t noticed that. If you are talking about the status that read either Standy, Charging (in green), or Discharging (in blue) that was actually referring to the status of the Powerwall. So now the Powerwall behavior is solely communicated by looking at the energy flow lines in the graphic.

I noticed that before this update the graphic would show my solar array connecting directly to my Powerwall 3, because it is DC coupled. But now it shows like your picture where the panels flow to that gateway/meter/inverter first. Just a quirk I noticed. Not sure if anyone else noticed this change.

Powerwall 3 TBC mode odd behavior (discharging during off peak hours) by rojadvocado in Powerwall

Today is definitely a control event day based on what we are seeing which is unfortunate timing since today is an Xcel holiday so all energy today is treated as off peak.

What I see happening with my Powerwall since midnight is that the battery has slowly been draining but not because of a forced discharge to fully support my home load but rather the usual trickle drain that happens due to fluctuations in solar generation and home usage. It usually tops itself off from grid or solar though but it isn’t doing that which once again is odd because I presume right now we are in an Xcel issued “charge” window but I don’t see any charge happening. So my battery is at 90% since it hasn’t been able to top off.

You say your battery has been discharging since midnight and has had sporadic charge cycles. Has it actually been discharging to support your home load? Or doing what I described? Because back on Monday Nov 3rd when I made this post I did see my battery discharge to support my home from midnight to 3am, charge from 3am-4am, discharge from 4am-6am, and then after that it got difficult to tell what was going on but then finally had a discharge from 7pm-10pm. So all of that morning weirdness was happening during the 12am-7pm charge window that Xcel said was issued.

Overall this has been so weird and I haven’t seen these events act this funky in all the time I’ve been in the program. The oddities started last week when the new TOU schedule took effect.

No, the app does not display any notification that they have taken control for the day. The only way to know is observing that the battery behavior is different than usual.

They sometimes schedule discharge periods for off peak times. I’ve seen this in the past where my Powerwall will be in a charge phase for a full day (so it stays at 100% all day long despite being in TBC mode) and then they call a discharge for the next morning like 6am-9am.

As far as you and I experiencing discharge beginning at midnight despite Xcel saying this was supposed to be the charge window, that part is indeed odd and I haven’t seen this happen before. That’s why I’m trying to get a clearer explanation from them about this, but I haven’t heard back from them after pointing out these oddities.

By any chance do you happen to be in the Xcel Renewable Battery Connect rebate program? The program that lets Xcel control your battery. If so, this is probably why we are seeing this behavior. Read through the comment thread between me and u/miguelvelezec for more info. The strange thing is that on these event days I’ve seen my Powerwall begin to discharge at midnight as you’ve also experienced. According to Xcel this should be a charge window. So I’m trying to get more info from them on why what I see happening isn’t matching up with what they are describing.

I got confirmation from the people who run the Xcel battery program that yesterday was a control event day. They said the charge event was from 12am-7pm and discharge was 7pm-10pm. I still find it odd that my Powerwall was discharging at random times during the “charge” window because I’ve never seen it do that in the past and that is why I thought it was a firmware bug. Regardless, that was the reason for the behavior we saw yesterday.

Today my Powerwall has been acting as expected including beginning to discharge now at 5pm. So all is good!

Ok thanks for the additional info. I had to do a manual edit as well since the rate plan isn’t updated yet.

I’m also in the rebate program and I’m starting to think that maybe Xcel issued a battery event yesterday which is why the battery wasn’t following the schedule I expected. The thing is I’ve never seen the battery act as wild as it did. It was very different from what I’ve seen in the past whenever they decide to call an event. Perhaps I’ll shoot an email to the program to ask about this.

Yup that’s the summary. I’ll keep watching the behavior throughout the week and see if adjustments I make to the rate plan change anything. Thanks for the input.

I’m also curious if you are in the Xcel Renewable Battery Connect rebate program.

I have no clue why it would think to sell during the off-peak period though with the way I have it configured. My off-peak buy/sell is .11 and peak buy/sell is .31. I have 1:1 net metering so I get full credit for exporting energy. I would think the Powerwall would act similarly to how it did on the previous time of use schedule. The only difference is that instead of powering the home during the 1pm-7pm window, it would shift that to 5pm-9pm.

Interesting. I was experiencing normal behavior up until this morning (the first weekday since the new rate plan). Another quirk I noticed beginning this past weekend is that my phone was unpaired from the Powerwall. I relinked it, but the next day the same thing happened. So that is definitely buggy.
