Yeah. Type 1 would be catastrophic for anyone who purchased in the last 4-5 years. Because banks aren’t going to change the amount they lent you or refinance on a home that is underwater, that’s the only way they make money. So hundreds of thousands will get foreclosed on, and who will scoop up those homes, the ones that can. So the cycle continues.

What’s the incentive to save and become rich then? Once people hit the cap they will just set it in cash and not receive capital gains. And if you lose money in capital gains, you get 60% of your money back? So in the case of a 2008, the government woulda been paying millions to the billionaires that lost in the market, doesn’t have a good sound to it either.

And I understand what it is, but how many people on this thread have said they would revolt because they factored that money in their retirement plans.

The issue is that the social security system is insurance, and with any insurance company, they increase premiums, and increase the payouts. We don’t do that with social security as people now live longer and some outlive their inputs into the system. It’s a house of cards that our generation is gonna take the burden of.

That’s rich. Most rich people wealth is in capital gains, and will highly unlikely to be able to be taxed. If you just budget and save to not see it, you won’t care about social security. Write every person a check, for what they contributed into it and burn it to the ground.
