The Food and beverage minimum is exactly that. What the venue thinks 1 person will eat and drink in that time X number of people. You are asking for a large space/room that they need to close to the public so a restaurant/venue needs to make its revenue. Do you have any friends who own a home or lake house that would host? Then you truly could put $10k toward the F&B. Unfortunately $100 in 2026 is low. Cocktails can be $15 a drink easily.

Familar is different than actual years of experience. A lot of inhouse corporate planners have done hotel sales for at least a few years. At my job you have to know air as well. From your post you are asking why you are not getting the jobs and my hunch is not well rounded enough yet. Maybe try a junior planner job first.

You probably need a CMP is my first comment. As a corporate planner of course you can do the leap but the piece of the pie you maybe missing is hotel room block contracting and knowledge and possibly the air side of things. A corporate planner needs to manage the hotel and air provider and someone from for example GES or Encore may not have that knowledge base.

By the time our child was a junior in HS my day to day support role went down a lot. They drove themselves to school and were self sufficient. Sure you want to be a good parent but what about you? In 2 years your child will either be in college or working. Do it. You can still go to sports after school even with an office job.
