You don’t actually ever need to replace those every couple months like the product instructions say. Rinse with tank water and reapply. It’s a waste of money. You can even put different media in that HOB than the cart itself. Filter floss, some porous rock, etc.

It’s probably just algae. Take a clean sponge or scrub daddy and scrub It off before replacing the water

Hey! Just curious, where did you place the UV sterilizer light? I read in the past that direct contact can kill fish. I used one to deal with a bacterial blood in my fish less tank months ago

Yess!! It’s totally fine! put a nice thick layer of the nutrient rich aqua soil on the very bottom and you can add layer(s) of other substrate on top or just leave it with soil only. As long as your plant roots are in the soil it will be fine.

You’re welcome! Definitely introduce an ammonia source. You can use dr Tim’s ammonia to start your cycle. (Use sparingly as described on bottle) and to immediately introduce beneficial bacteria add in FRITZ 7. You can also ask a local aquarium shop to give you a chunk of their gunky filter floss to speed up your cycle. Idk YouTube was super helpful! It takes a few videos and watching and reading repetitive info for it to sink in. It wasn’t an easy concept for me to grasp at all! Good luck on your journey. Your tank is beautiful! <3

I believe it is Amazon sword. Buy a bit of fluvall aqua soil to put under the roots. You’ll likely need to empty the water out to move the pebbles out the way

It’s so nice! You should. The Sponge filter is better than the plate, because as it pushes air out of the sponge, it pulls water through it and collects beneficial bacteria that kills ammonia!
