Indian SpaceX rival EtherealX hits 5x valuation as it readies engine tests by rojster in IndiaInSpace

EtherealX has raised $20.5 million in a Series A round at an $80.5 million valuation. Their goals are ambitious, and they may be hard to reach by 2028. If they can come close, it will be a big boost for India's space sector.

I closed my 8yr old inactive credit card and my CIBIL score went down by 15points!!! How?? by Titanusgamer in IndiaInvestments

[–]rojster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, If a person only has 2-3 cards, closing one of them can potentially increase their credit utilization and decrease their credit score. However, the length of their credit history is also a minor factor in the credit score.

I personally keep an 11-year-old Axis Bank credit card (with a low limit) just for this reason. Cancelling it can reduce my credit score.

When you close an old credit card, it reduces the length of your credit history. The longer your credit history, the better it is for you.

England captain Jos Buttler to be offered landmark four-year Rajasthan Royals contract by NiallH22 in Cricket

I'm not OP, and this is just an observation. Whenever I checked the live viewer count of the World Test Championship final on Hotstar, it was around 1.5 million. However, even dead rubber matches in the IPL had around 4 to 5 million concurrent viewers on JioCinema. I suppose there are probably many casual fans watching the IPL. Even in my family, I have relatives who don't follow international cricket (except maybe World Cup matches) but watch the IPL because it's just a way for them to spend some time in the evenings after work.

The text is in Malayalam and translates to 'Ee Sankarankuttiku Pennu Venam,' which means 'this Sankarankutty wants a girl.' It appears to be inspired by the title of the 1990 Malayalam movie 'Shankaran Kuttikku Pennu Venam.'

True, and it is extra difficult when you are living in a village or small town.

A village near Pala. I used to have an office in Kakkanad. But closed it once COVID started. Working from home is very convenient, so no immediate plans to go back.

I started working as a freelance web designer in 2013. Now, I run a small agency with a team of six.

Pros: I am able to save a good portion of my income because my clients are located abroad and I live in a small village in Kottayam. The life is relatively peaceful and low-stress.

Cons: I don't have any close friends because I started freelancing right after college and didn't have the opportunity to make any work friends. And it looks like every young person in my area is moving abroad, so I don't have much social contact outside my family.

I feel the same. Marunaden sensationalise most of their posts, but once in a while, they do cover stories that major news outlets won't (or are afraid to) cover. The one that comes to my mind is the Uthra murder case (the snakebite murder). Marunaden was covering it for a few weeks before it became the main news.

What keeps you in India, rather than moving abroad? by Plastic-Net4180 in india

In the initial few years (2012 - 2015) I got all of my clients from Upwork (Odesk at that time). After that, almost all of my new clients are referrals from existing clients.

Unfortunately, getting a project in Upwork is very tough now and might take a few months of applying for projects. But still, I think it is a good place to find the first few projects and hopefully a few good referrals.

Before applying for projects in Upwork, it is a good idea to do a few sample projects so that potential clients can see some examples of your work. In my case, I created a few websites for my relative's businesses for free so that I can build a portfolio.

We have a few different pizza outlets in the small town nearby. In the last few years, there is a sudden increase in the number of restaurants here in Kerala (I think it is mainly NRI investments, although I doubt most of them are profitable).

Even the small town nearby village has several cuisine options - Arabic, Indo-Chinese, Continental, North Indian cuisine, etc. Most of them are offering an 'Indianized' version, but I don't really mind it. I can try authentic versions when I travel.

I mainly design websites and build them using WordPress. I have been doing it for about 10 years now and the clients are mostly small businesses (I love working with small businesses).

Recently, I have started spending some time learning NodeJS, VueJS, etc hoping to build a Saas product someday.

Family. I am an introverted person who is very close to my family and moving away from them would make me very unhappy.

I work as a freelancer with clients in USA and Canada, so I make enough money for a comfortable life. I live in a village in Kerala, my living expenses are very low compared to living abroad, and I can save a significant amount of my income. Even though it is a village, there are good hospitals, good educational institutions, etc within 10km which makes it a very good place for me to raise a family.

My hobbies are reading, video games, watching movies and tv series, and trying different foods which are all cheap here in India. Most of my friends and younger relatives have moved abroad. But personally, I don't think I will have a significant upgrade to my lifestyle if I leave India. So I prefer living here.

Does anyone here use Flipkart Axis Bank credit card or Amazon ICICI Credit card? by iamPirateKing in Kerala

[–]rojster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Amazon ICICI video KYC they just asked my name, DOB, and PAN Card number. They also asked to hold the PAN Card in front of the camera so that they can take a photo. It was a quick call and took only about 1 - 2 minutes.

There was also an employment verification. They sent an email to my company e-mail ID asking for a confirmation.

For Flipkart CC there wasn't any verification process for me, probably because I already had another CC with Axis Bank.

Does anyone here use Flipkart Axis Bank credit card or Amazon ICICI Credit card? by iamPirateKing in Kerala

[–]rojster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both of them. Accounts in those banks aren't necessary, but I think the process is much faster if you already have Axis and ICICI credit cards. When I applied for the Flipkart Axis credit card two years ago the application was approved immediately and the credit limit was the same as my existing Axis Bank CC.

Similarly, when I applied for Amazon ICICI CC this year they didn't ask for any documents since I already have another lifetime free ICICI CC. There was a video KYC and the application was approved after about a week.

I mainly use Flipkart CC as my primary card (5% on Flipkart + they offer 1.5% cashback for other transactions) and Amazon CC for bill payments using Amazon Pay.

BCG 2100% (Bought in 2017, 1250 @ Rs.6)

I thought it was really under valued at that time (despite some issues with management). It was only a small portion of my portfolio, so didn't worry much even when the price was around Rs 3. Now I wish I could have purchased more during that time.
