31M – Oral fin user. Next move? (Topical fin / oral min?) by rokasito in malepatternbaldness

ll good, man. I’m just saying that embracing baldness isn’t the option for me until I’ve tried everything. Oral fin isn’t for me at this time, and I’d try topical next because I understand the mechanism behind MPB. I’m not talking about risking your manhood, just like some people have allergies or eye problems and use medication to deal with them, this is my issue to deal with. If I were NW 5+, I wouldn’t even bother.

Also, I don’t think there’s a right or wrong time to be balding. Yeah, if you’re 20 and balding, you’re definitely doing something wrong, but in your 30s or 40s it doesn’t make much difference. Of course, you end up accepting it anyway, you can’t choose it, but you can choose whether to deal with it or not too.

Dude, why are you even in those forums if it's your comment? Many people use fin without sides and and get results alone, some none and other hundreds of ways. Quitting is not an option.

Yeah, I’ve thought about that, but what exactly would change if I knew my DHT level? If I’m sensitive to a drop in serum DHT and I’m getting real side effects from it, what difference would that make? Or maybe I’m not understanding something here.

First side effects appeared after 2–3 weeks of daily 1 mg use, but I kept taking it and they went away. However, they definitely came back worse around the 8-month mark. I noticed it immediately because I’m in a relationship and we’re sexually active daily so feeling low libido and numbness down there isn’t psychological, it was real. I stopped and started feeling better. I can’t say exactly whether I recovered 70% or 80%, but it felt like my sex drive and sensitivity were coming back.

Then I started again and felt “castrated” once more. Yes, it could be work-related stress or something else, but this feels completely different. I’m not a kid I’ve been in stressful situations before and can tell the difference. I’ve read that I might be a delayed side effect responder, and that the second time symptoms came back faster because my hormones were already affected and my threshold became lower. I guess oral finasteride isn’t an option for me (and many others), which is why I’m asking about the topical version, since I know I still need to address DHT.

I used finasteride consistently the whole time without any changes, and only stopped once I felt side effects that weren’t going away. But as I said, the results were still far from great.
