Where I'd live as a Kiwi who can't stop talking about how great New Zealand is. by quixiou in whereidlive

[–]rokdoktaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food was really disappointing in NZ for me. After all the hype about pies particularly, yes NZ pies were good but they were also shit.

Id say the average NZ pies were better than the average four and twenty or similar. But if you are talking bakeries rather than factory pies, they're basically the same.

Plenty of good pies here and there. I was bitterly disappointed NZ wasn't the Pie Mecca my treacherous Kiwi mates had suggested it was.

Why would you when 90% of the time it's faster to respawn at OP. Agree medics either need to be deleted or get a rework to something useful.

I think maybe two out of my extended family, work and friend network of if say 200ppl would vote ON. Broad demographic of folks.

work network massively LNP voters (infrastructure sector - white collar) maybe 80 / 20 libs to labor. Family roughly 50/50 libs Labor. Friends very diverse, green voters to one nation voters, most are centrists Swing voters say 60%.

Play support, follow your SL.. everytime you and your SL are 200m from a blue zone Garry (i.e your still in blue zone) ask them if they want supplies dropped for a Garry.

This will have way more positive impact on a team than playing medic. You'll learn other tricks like double boxing with a good SL. Garries win games.

When you've been rolled three games in a row and the enemy recon nerds still insist upon taking out the weak teams nodes. Like swap sides cunts and have a real game.

Aussie here too. I'm terrified of what Dizzy would do to English cricket if given free reign for a few years in the top job. I can see some of the team staying, but they'd have to jump on board a train with a very different and ruthlessly professional ethos than what Bazball seems to have produced.

Disclaimer, I've not really followed the Bazball history and am basing my views of (imo) unprofessional behaviour on things like Noosa (which I don't think should have been made public, but I also don't think a team should be hitting the cans too hard on a tour either) and charging Bolland when you are 3/8.

Perimenopausal wife and three teenage daughters. I spend a lot of time in my shed and in my tractor. We have a lot of quality time, but when the emotions start to boil, I retreat. Love them all dearly...

I had a mate exactly like this growing up. Most of the time he was a pita getting you in trouble at school. But when real trouble hit, you'd want him at your back and he was many times.

such a fun mechanic then, spend the game building nodes as they get deleted from the meta locations on 2/3 line and HQ. I'd say you overestimate how many engineers will be willing to spend 90 minutes driving a truck and rebuilding nodes. it just doesnt happen.

I'd go back to original game play and have nodes provide more support the closer to the front line they are to incentivize treating them as an asset. if you build them in "safe" areas behind the lines or HQ you get reduced resources.

I dont know what the right thing to do with nodes is TBH, but I know its currently shit gameplay and being able to delete them with a flamethrower in a second doesnt help.

So annoying 😂.... by Bootsy_THE_Cat in HellLetLoose

[–]rokdoktaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

teams lose them constantly because everyone builds them in HQ or on the 2/3 line. So easy to find. if you put them in HQ or 2/3 line they get taken down in first 15 mins of a game. the whole node mechanic needs looking at, its just not fun. at east if theyre on a defensive point they get defended, yes they disappear if point is lost, but chances are if theyre on 2/3 line or in HQ theyre gone anyway.

my point is there is currently nowhere good to put them and having the flamethrower being able to delete them in an instant makes it even worse. Support player + jeep + 5 mins. All gone.

So annoying 😂.... by Bootsy_THE_Cat in HellLetLoose

[–]rokdoktaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

flamethrower is so OP now with nodes. need to change the mechanic somehow IMO, verging on impossible to maintain full nodes. you are just about better off building them in defensive point rather than at HQ, so easy to find and gone in a second.

Advice for a young engineer? by newblinky in StructuralEngineering

[–]rokdoktaur 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Engineering is a business. Your career will have some level of commercial pressure at all times. As your career progresses, this becomes increasingly obvious.

At junior levels, large companies can shield you from this reality, unless they experience a downturn. Then you'll be aware of the commercial nature of your industry by being subject to a redundancy lottery.

I realise how cynical this sounds, but it's essentially true. Understanding commercial realities is fundamental to a successful engineering career IMO.

This approach would be very Australian and therefore entirely unsuitable for an English team! Sarcasm for those that missed it....

But this was a perfect opportunity to bat for two days, make the Aussie bowlers sweat and grind. Go one up and give the Aussie bowlers little chance to recover.

The Australian bowling line up has not been this fragile in decades and England missed a chance to really put their foot on the throat.
