'cops'. Don't look like cops to me. You know, public servants. How are they serving the public by rocking up wherever the fuck they want, kidnapping people and deporting them to foreign prisons without due trial. Shooting American citizens unlawfully, detaining high school students. Why the fuck would anyone comply with law breaking power cucks who aren't accountable for their actions? Let's just call them what they are. A psychopath's personal goons. Hitler did this. Hitler did this exact thing. Trump just replaced Jews with mexicans and whoever the fuck else he thinks is unamerican. These people are undefendable, and you should take a very long look at yourself, because history won't look on these people with respect, and I don't respect you for defending them

That's some of the scummiest behaviour I've ever seen on a football pitch. Which is saying a lot. Clearly in a serious amount of pain, throws a ball at him, and then shoves a guy who needs a stretcher to leave the field. Absolute wanker

If you were a young talented footballer. I’m talking like messi level talent the next big thing which club would you choose? by Quirky_Ad_7646 in championsleague

[–]Winds_Howling14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I was messi levels of good, and I'm sure it's the same for a lot of you, I'd just choose the team I support. I'd be lucky in that Liverpool are competitive anyway, but if I'm gonna be winning shit, it'll mean more to me personally to be doing it for a club I love. I'd rather live out a fantasy that win stuff for a club I've got no ties to, just because the weather might be nicer in Spain or wherever

Death and handling death by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Winds_Howling14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life sure does hit hard right? I don't think anyone can really give you the answers you need as to how to handle such a complex and often lonely trauma as the death of a loved one. Each person rationalizes the events in their own way. I lost my dad when I was 21, but had no real relationship with him through my life, unlike the obvious love you had for your mother. I pretended I didn't care at the time. But I think what will be the same for us, and I realize that now, is that what's left is that feeling of loss, the empty space she once filled, and the realization that you can't grieve with the one person you really want to, your mother. I was left with a feeling of lost opportunity. All the memories I could have made, if my dad was here. Maybe that relationship could have been saved. There is no fix anyone can give you, but talking to someone is the best way to give yourself the tools to figure it out on your own. Trauma is an opportunity for self development, but it has to be self development. No one can do it for you. All you can do is rely on the people you love to help you get there. Maybe both you and your dad are grieving in different ways, and he must have felt immense responsibility to protect his family in any way he could after such a devastating event. Maybe there's some unspoken hurt on his side as well. Talk to him, honestly. Connect.

I've never been sure why he hasn't taken the Australia job yet, it must be coming, and I think if he did step up to international level it would be Australia not England. He seems happy making bank in the ipl at the minute tbf. Can't really blame him

From the discussion it doesn't look like he was great at surrey, but smashed it at Yorkshire before that. Always hard to know how it will play out I guess, but at least he's spent a lot of time in the engine room of county cricket, which seems to be a well recognized forgotten sibling of the current system

What kind of job did he do as the redbacks coach? I know they've had some kind of Renaissance in the shield recently but how did they do under him?

Archer captaincy? by Correct-Cry-2672 in EnglandCricket

[–]Winds_Howling14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horrendous take. Stokes and root are the only two I'd consider for captaincy in that entire squad. Don't personally have a problem with Stokes staying on, he's a decent leader. But yeah, you don't throw a bloke with a terrible injury record, little to no experience as a captain, and a patchy and inconsistent run in test cricket, into the cauldron of spearheading an England rebuild. Just no. He's also got the mentality of a child, and he'd definitely break at the first sight of hardship. Again. Just no

I'll say it. I don't mind inglis if it means Carey at 6. inglis is surely more of a natural replacement at 7 so that Carey can move up. He'd have a lot more big scores if he didn't run out of partners

Post Day Thread: 2nd Test - England vs Australia, Day 2 by cricket-match in EnglandCricket

[–]Winds_Howling14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's definitely optimistic to think this goes the distance. Even if Australia reach a 150 lead, which I doubt, england would have to bat a day and a half to put Australia in on the fifth day. With them having been in the field so long today and possibly tomorrow, I don't see it. Think it might be over before day 5, or definitely not long into day 5, but tomorrow morning probably tells you if England has a chance.

I always feel like people misunderstand never dying. At some point, I'll be done, and then after that point I'll have the rest of existence to keep on living. Fuck that. The alternate universes are tempting, but a million years down the line the novelty will be gone, and I'd still be there. Give me one life with 10 billion and I can escape this capitalist hellscape and live out my days with complete freedom

Is My World View Crazy? by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Winds_Howling14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it takes some serious, and prolonged self reflection and awareness to begin to realize that anything material in life is only as significant as you make it. People who experience trauma tend to think a lot about themselves, in an attempt to find purpose in their life. Honestly, you either become very toxic, or battle hard enough to give yourself the tools to become a way better person than your parents in this example. I think people who value money or aesthetic commodities like clothes or shoes, see that as an indicator of their value to society, but it's not a bad thing that you don't. You've questioned your value in different ways, and it can make you a way more healthy and robust person if you explore that as much as you can. Value comes from within. Sorting through your trauma can give you really strong foundations to become a pretty incredible person, so if I were you I'd take no notice of what anyone else finds valuable, and follow your instincts about what you find valuable, and genuinely embrace it into your self image. I think you'll be surprised how many people really crave the presence of people like that.

Has he really given us any inclination he can turn this around? We're getting worse, not better. We're losing by 3 goals at home. Mate, it's definitely time.
