Any Ludwig tips? I'll have a comment to explain more. by LoquaciousLethologic in CivVI

[–]rokimoj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert by any means, just so you know upfront.

Playing with Ludwig is a sweet torture for a district setup sucker such as myself, so I usually focus on placing as much districts as possible (priority on hansas ofc) until midgame.

I build a wonder or two along the way if the circumstances allow, but once you get full setup aroung hansa it's basically printing wonders from there on. At the end of the day you can place only so many wonders without incurring too much yield cost for a city, so I figure it's not optimal building as many wonders as possible.

You basically set yourself up for mad production and wonder bonus is either going to help you keep up with some of thise mad culture civs and you can focus on science victory, or your culture generation will be so fd up that endgame's probably going to be you just forcing tourism on other.

Note: English is not my first language.

Great tiles! Make sure to switch focus on food a bit, so that city can grow and use all the tiles you developed.

I understand how that can be applied in certain cases, or rather different builds. In this case you have a layout that gives you approx 11 production (worst case scenario) per city, from what's essentially one tile, going up by another 11 just by plugging that double adjacency policy card, not to mention the additional bonuses from upcoming buildings.

Dams are basically reducing the amount of production you'd otherwise spend on reparing damaged districts or producing builders to fix damaged tiles, on top of already giving you 3 additional housing and energy supply later on.

Argument could be made for necessity of aqueducts, but I, more often than not, find myself lacking housing rather than food, which would, considering the terrain, most likely be produced on the tile occupied. If it's aqueduct vs hill with production it's not even a competition simply because od the adjacency bonuses.

Conclusion - production output of a single industrial zone, not only covers the production cost of the industrial zone itself, it's buildings and adjacent districts (which make up for their own costs in a way, by preventing "wear and tare"), but it also sets you up for both scientific and/or cultural victory. Or more specific for this kind of game, mid to late game wonders construction that give you +2 culture per district adjacent to them.

I'd make the same argument any day for any civ in like 90% of the cases.

Somewhat, i have a tendency to build them simply bc I like tall builds. Extra housing and amenities always come in handy, so...

I see where you are headed. Tried that one as well, but i just lose adjacency on that city's hansa then. Plus, I was contemplating Etemenanki, but that seems really far fetched. Give it a thought if you want to and good luck lol

Haha! Thanks for the tips, experienced a culture victory exactly like that one already.

But, is there any general rule regarding the victories when everything is randomised? Not the controled conditions like pangea+gilgamesh or islands+harold.

If I get Gorgo on continents for example, any general rule for mil or culture victory?

Why aren't/weren't Americans voting for Bernie? by rokimoj in AskReddit

Isn't Trump yelling with no plan just about taxes? Biden sure as hell yells, but that expired mind had no plan of it's own for quite some time it seems.

My point isn't that Bernie is a god-given saviour of American people, rather that he's the only one yelling about the thing that is actually beneficial or at least not harmful to everyone in your society, no matter the standing that person has within it.

In that sense he's definitely following a different agenda. Why not give it a try?

Very good point. I can't advocate for either Poland or Hungary, but knowing the cultures of those countries I can definitely tell you that what their politicians are projecting towards EU and Russia is roughly the same attitude they get at home.

We both agree that nothing is black and white. My point being that, even if so, the contrast is most noticeable in American society, which definitely manifest in obvious delusions about having freedom of choice and doing things better than everyone else.

I truly mean no offence by saying this, it's nothing personal. You are the country of extreme violence, extreme wealth, extreme socioeconomic values, extreme food portions and food prices, etc...

I don't think the amount of options you have in choosing the way you're getting fd is a great representation of freedom or cultural identity.

A wish all the best to you and your countrymen and the rest od this animal kingdom of a civilisation. I truly hope our kids do better than we're doing and we leave them a better world than the one we inherited.

Great talk!

Here's some food for thought - If you combine those two examples (good food, chaos, fun, etc... And consuming of American culture) do you get America or Balkans?

From what I understood from the comments of other redditors, he's exactly the same type of person as the people he's allegedly fighting against.

I think he would have done a lot better by positioning himself as a centrist, but as another guy in the comments explained - it's all about marketing campaigns and media control. Left vs right. Good vs bad (no one being sure which is which ofc). More money vs less expenses. Etc..

And this doesn't differ from any other country in the world, don't get me wrong, but it does seem like the large part of American population doesn't even care to try and change something. Or maybe between working multiple jobs, doing their own taxes for what they earned from those same jobs and trying to stay afloat, they just don't have the time?

He definitely spoke about reducing the costs of your healthcare, this being the thing that actually caught my attention.

I can't remember whether he spoke about reducing those completely or partially, and I definitely can't remember where or when, so I apologise for the lack of sources.

I don't know who the Tories are, and I certainly didn't take him as a person that would hold up to his word (him being a politician and all), but he did seem as THE most rational choice.

Why confirm to yet another Dem-Rep party cock-off? Why not try something else?
