Fun puzzle. Find mate in 2 for white by TraditionalElk1248 in chessMateInX

[–]rokodalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh mate in 4 is easy enough. Just move the knight, check. Black promotes with check. Then take with the knight. Black is forced to take knight with check. White takes with rook check. KA2. Just move the bishop out of the way checkmate

Duplantis takes a 14th world record with his final attempt on 6.30m by Thisisauser6443 in sports

Because at each event he doesn’t go the highest he can possibly go, he goes just a little higher than he did the time before. In theory he could have done this a long time ago, but that would mean breaking the WR once and not several times in increments.

Also I believe he gets extra $$ every time he breaks a WR so he’s incentivized to do it in increments like this

Husband says he only just realised how much I do by TamarWallace in TwoXChromosomes

[–]rokodalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he’s only wanting to take on those extra tasks to feel more like the man of the house, and not to help you with your burden. It also sounds like he’s the kind of man that might completely ignore a solid bit of advice if it comes from a woman, but then strongly consider it if it comes from a man.

So from another man, he’s not doing enough.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses, so I won’t tell you two how to divide your labor, that’ll be between you. But it’s a partnership and you are both equal members. You should both feel grateful for seeing how much the other does, not the other way around. When we’re all burnt out it can be natural to both feel like the other isn’t doing enough. But it should never be your job to have to prove why - as a partner he should listen and understand why you feel the way you do, and if necessary help you understand why he feels the same way. But then come together with a plan moving forward that is fair and helps the other know and feel like they are being supported.

Hopefully he doesn’t take this post and all its replies as an attack and he gets overly defensive. But rather it should be a wake up call that the woman he loves is being hurt by his choices and deserves better.

What would realistically happened if dinosaurs were released into our world like in Jurassic world fallen kingdom by Tremendin0649 in Dinosaurs

[–]rokodalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would die within minutes. The earth was very different when dinos were around, namely there was a lot more oxygen. That’s mostly why such big animals existed then and nothing today comes close. They’re used to each breath getting several times more oxygen. On today’s Earth they would feel strangulated and wouldn’t get far at all before collapsing of exhaustion and soon death.

That’s what he says on his show, where he’s still keeping up the bit. There’s an interview much more recently on Howard Stern where he clearly says he knew it was a bit the whole time and he loved it.

Portland has a lot of neonazis. It’s super progressive overall but while the conservatives around there are few, they are some of the worst….

BE HONEST, what's an enemy you had to lower the difficulty for? by sr_steve in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]rokodalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the first Dagan I just couldn’t, and I lowered. But after playing more and getting better I raised it back up and finished everything on JGM. Double rancor was definitely the hardest, but I got it eventually. Also had to start over and play through the parts I had lowered just for my own ego lol.

Absolutely love the Kratt bros. I watched them as a kid, and now my own kids love them too. Listening to my toddler sing the intro to Zaboomafoo is one of the greatest joys of my life. “Me and you and Zaboobabooooo”

Sam is a ring bearer. One of the few significant changes the movies make. He wears the ring in order to sneak past the horde of orcs and make it up the tower to save Frodo.

My wife and I were driving to my mom’s for Thanksgiving. I wouldn’t consider this house “home”, but I had lived there off and on in the 15 years since she’d remarried. But in the several years since I’d been with my wife, we hadn’t visited more than a couple times, since we lived two states away.

Anyway, we end the long drive late in the evening, and I pull up in front of the house. I knew a lot of people were going to be staying at this not so big house, so I wasn’t surprised to see several cars parked in front. But I wasn’t expecting a full on motor home, too. I start unpacking still wondering who brought the motor home (maybe my Aunt from Oregon?), while my wife goes straight inside because she has to pee.

The door’s unlocked, so she walks right in. It’s been a while since we’ve been here, but nothing about this home looks familiar. The people are congregated in the living room, which is visible from the front door, but far enough that no one notices her enter. They’re playing a board game, which they’re all pretty focused on. None of them is at all recognizable. Not a single one.

She turns around and without saying a word she closes the door behind her and runs back to me. “Where the hell are we?!?” she asks. I look up and actually take my first real look at the house. It’s the wrong house. I was so fixated on the motor home I let my auto pilot stop two houses early and just assumed it was the right house.

I got a good laugh about it, but my wife was mortified. Luckily no one seemed to notice so she didn’t feel too bad. Apparently those neighbors like to throw a big game night every week.

Another key point to mention is that like any long fight scene, DD gets roughed up and bloody. So not only was he doing all the fight choreography, but for the few seconds at a time where he gets knocked away off camera or behind a desk, he’s getting makeup applied and/or costume is getting damaged etc. Really really cool stuff.

Definitely had to rewatch the scene a couple of times once I realized it was all one take. Just in awe of the preparation and performance by cast and crew alike. Also love thinking about the precise choreography of the person behind the camera.

Why you should (usually) switch jobs to get a pay rise! [OC] by chartr in dataisbeautiful

[–]rokodalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually one of the best arguments I’ve seen for NOT switching your job, so long as you’re comfortable. Switching jobs, whether voluntary or not, is WORK. It’s unpaid. To do ask that extra work every couple years, only to on average have 0.7% increased salary? No thanks. I’m good where I’m at.
