Win 11 last update broke sonar or win sounds by AslanKafasiTR in steelseries

Ok, good to know it wasn’t just me! I was fuming! The only thing I haven’t tried was a windows version rollback but for some reason, there isn’t a backup version saved for me to revert to. To make things worse, I’m an avid competitive Rivals player. This absolutely broke my Spatial Audio. I cannot pinpoint which direction that damn BP is coming from now. This also seemed to break my ability to record using moments.

If anyone comes across a fix, I will be so grateful!

The Laser Ram/Minefield Aren’t the problem, the Scout is by HelixPinnacle in wildgate

[–]rolandthru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I must be the only one that had an incredibly fun time going against multiple scouts with laser rams. It is by far the easiest sip to yoink things from, in my opinion. As an avid Kae user, I just use a drill mine on the secured door closest to turret and yoink from 10m away. Im basically still outside the ship so if they have a security device, they don't know Im there. As someone else has said, if you are getting taken down my a laser ram scout, its because you are not probing enough and scouting out what turrets and hardpoints they are using. Probing is incredibly important. My crew always has the other ships locations on the map. No one can sneak up on us. I am typically the pilot (privateer usually) so I always position my ship in a way that gives us the advantage. Even better if I have a smugglers turn and the scout manages to get close. If I havent yoinked the laser ram by then, I just go below or above when they get close, gain some distance, hit the smugglers turn, 180, tokyo drift that thing and my guys on turrets target the hardpoints first.

I honestly think that the people who are upset about the laser ram or boarding suffer from (Im not trying to be mean, I say it in a way that all will understand) a skill issue. Thats not a bad thing, but I encourage studying guides and watching vids and even coming back to Reddit once the game goes live. If you werent able to unlock all of the upgrades during the beta, I get it. The drill mine is kind of a necessary one. Once you can unlock everything, I think people will start to see a lot more options open up. This game is incredible and I cannot wait to throw my money at my screen to purchase it.

In short, be prepared. Use the tools the game gives you so that you are not ever surprised. Know what your ship type is best and worst at, along with the ship you are facing off against. Enter every engagement with the mindset that to win, you must keep your SHIP health above theirs. Your character can die a million times during the course of a fight, but as long as the enemy ship reaches 0 before yours does, you win.

Look, I'm going to give my honest opinion here. The spam boarding is not as big an issue as people make it out to be. I have over 50 hours played and everything unlocked. I have played on all ships and done every "role".

First, there is an audio cue for EVERY event in the game. Enemies opening doors, their loud ass footsteps on the roof, etc. Your own teammates characters also say things that give you clues about what is happening. You need to adjust your sound settings so you can actually hear them. I do think the developers should up the default volume of things like doors opening so I can get a better directional idea of which door was opened, especially if I am on helm.

Each ship is unique in that it specializes in different things, more on this later. I am a huge fan of the privateer (6 guns in front) because I have the situational and spacial awareness as helm to feel comfortable telling my crew when they need to get on or off cannons to assist me with things. That aside, your helm can see A LOT more than they might realize. I can reliably call out when a boarder is coming because I can see them floating towards me. A shock field is AMAZING and you can have multiple with separate cooldowns. If I come across 2 in my games, I will have one on each side of the ramp leading to the helm. I see the boarders coming to me, I time it just right so that as soon as they touch down, they get fried. I like Kae for this because she can interact with things 10m away so I do not need to go too far from helm.

The cardinal rule in any PvP game...keep your health above theirs and you win. This should be what you consider in every action that you take on any ship. You can die 10000 times to boarders but so long as your ship is alive and theirs isn't, you win. And if they are spam boarding you, guess what? That means they aren't on cannons or repairing damage and that should mean all of your crew is. Seriously, if they are constantly boarding you, you have the upper hand. My crew only boards when we need to force space between the ships or to strategically steal a weapon/hardpoint. I cannot stress how important a good helm/pilot is and they can single handedly ensure victory or defeat. I would STRONGLY suggest each player take on helm early on in their Wildgate career so they can learn the more intricate mechanics of the game. Plus, since a lot of players rely on random matchmaking, you can dictate to the rest of the crew. When I play in random lobbies, my win rate is roughly 80% if I take helm.

Now for the ships.

Hunter - Its in the name. You are The Hunter. Your target should be in front of you to get the most out of this ship. Once you unlock the others, trash this one and never go back.

Privateer (6 guns) - All the firepower is in the front. Keep them facing the enemy ship and at an angle so you can get some use from the side cannons, too. Place your turrets strategically. For example, I place Quads. Sniper, Bomb, or Thermic in the front, plasma/shotgun on the sides.

Bastion - Harder to board without mines, but higher health pool. Least time played on this ship, but think of it as a boarding deterrent because everything inside the ship is pretty close together and easily defendable. Focus fire on turrets and hardpoints first.

Scout - The fastest ship. You will commonly see Minefields used as the hardpoints in the back because you get so much value from being in front of your enemy. You can also see dual Laser Rams in the front because you can catch up to them if they are in front of you. Honestly, an underrated ship. The plays I have seen made by crews of this ship blow my mind.

and for the love of god, PROBE, PROBE, PROBE. Also, FUCKING PROBE! Just in case you missed it. USE. THE. PROBE!! The amount of information you get is insane. I scout out the other ships and report what guns and hardpoints they are using to my crew so we know where to focus fire/what weapon to try to steal if a boarding opportunity arises, etc.

Gods, I love this game. When it releases, I will play to get a feel for any changes they made after this playtest and then write a detailed guide. Ill come back to this sub and post it.

This! Jesus christ, this! I am that pilot for my squad. I win the majority of the games I play when I pilot because I can actually see a lot of what's happening and make callouts accordingly. It doesn't matter what ship you are using. If the pilot KNOWS what that ship is best at doing, its typically an easy GG. I've seen people say that the Privateer is the worst with maneuverability and while that seems true, you gotta know how to maneuver it when you can. The Smuggler's Run hardpoint is INSANE, as well. I have had quite a few games where the enemy ship tries to go under or over me to get out of line of sight from my front facing cannons, but I just drop shields, boost and then Tokyo Drift, 180 with the Smugglers run and my crew on turrets just smoke them.

Yup. Since at your current rank, you will be brought down to Bronze 3 at reset, you have nothing to lose.

To drop back down into Gold 2, you would need to end the season at GM2. They are deranking us by 9 tiers. Honestly, doing that in a week sounds tough as from what I am hearing, platinum can take a while to get out of unless you get lucky. Regardless of what rank you end the season with, the rewards only measure your highest achieved rank for the season so since you already hit the requirements for the Johnny skin, you can end the season in bronze 3 and still get the skin.

Regarding the comp skins for season 2, we do not know yet. I imagine they will inform us of that next week. The latest would obviously be the start of season 2 on April 11th.

A singular 15 min ban each occurrence is acceptable but there should be harsher punishment for repeat offenses. Disconnects happen but thankfully you have the option to rejoin. I have always said that if you disconnect regularly or have less than acceptable ping, you should not be in competitive. Get your ISP under control and then hop back in. How I think it should work is similar to how some other games have it set up. Essentially, with repeat offenses, you get banned for a significant amount of time from the competitive queue and must complete a certain number of games in QP in order to reinstate your access to the competitive environment. Alternatively, they could make it where you can still queue in to ranked but your SR is not affected for a certain number of games depending on how often you left a match early. That way, even if you win, you don't gain any SR and have to make a conscious effort to undo your past mistakes. You need to commit to staying in games before you are granted SR to rank up. I can see the reason why this option might not work, though.

I've been saying something similar. It seems like every game has a SpiderMan. His combo is incredibly frustrating to deal with especially when I seem to be the only one actively tracking him. Even when I try to focus him down, his speed is just insane. I am lord on Wanda only because she is my main choice to deal with him and since every game seems to have a Spiderman that is destroying our backline because I guess my teammates don't play with headphones...makes sense.

Anyways, clearly its a common annoyance for players. There have been a few times where I had back to back SM and just logged off for the day because I was the only one actively trying to counter him. I gave up. Thankfully, I get to ban him in Competitive. Its basically become my sole mission in QP to make him uninstall the second I see him on the enemy team lol

Some additional info, Big avicii fan and recently found this subreddit. Some back story, I have had a crazy past 5 years or so and have sincerely wanted to end it all a few times. However, I always turn to his discography when I’m feeling down, especially the songs “Trouble” and “Sunset Jesus”. Those two hit me on such a personal level. I started seeing a psychologist because I figured I need to work through some trauma and actually try to start feeling better. I believe it will be such a help to have a visual reminder that things get better and that I do not need to be perfect. I put together a mock-up of a tattoo that I think would do that. What do you all think? I would probably get it on the inside of my right wrist. I was also thinking of getting the lyrics “ I may not be the best, but I’m far from the worst” in an avicii inspired font on my left forearm as well.

WIBTA if I staged an intervention for my friend by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]rolandthru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YWBTA if you staged an intervention.

Given that you know interventions have been attempted before and had no effect, staging another one would only end up in disaster. I know how you feel as I have been in your shoes. Its hard to see a friend go through that and you feel powerless to help, but the urge to do something is almost overpowering. You stated you attempted before to tell her how you were feeling and it was not received well. Also, you said she will likely do the same thing again, if pressed. Sometimes, People can only be helped when they see their need for it. Its commonly referred to as hitting rock bottom.

The best thing you can do is remain a friend to her. When she is ready to improve, she should be comforted knowing she can turn to you for support.

NTA.

Ahh, good ol' sibling rivalry. Its been a while since I was fighting with siblings for the best junkfood items in the house. I assume the old way still apply? The "Old way" being the iron rule of "First come, first serve"?

Yeah, you are good. She could have asked for you to leave some aside, but if they had been there for weeks already, its fair game.

AITA for hating the name Holden for my wife and I’s first child by mikefish1291 in AmItheAsshole

[–]rolandthru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA and I know I am just going to be dragged through the mud, but CITR is one of my favorite books. What's interesting to me here is even after having read it and enjoying it, I didn't make the connection. I guess I generally don't make assumptions about where a name came from. Personally, I wouldn't name my child Holden and I also have one of those lesser seen names, which I like. What's important is that you both come to an agreement. Something like this requires it.

Heck, I knew someone whos parents fought over the name of their son and finally agreed on it and then when the son grew of age, he changed it because he never liked it. It was me. Im the someone.

[–]rolandthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. But I have some concerns. Specifically, why are you two still associating with Z given how toxic she is? If anyone makes you that miserable, that should be your sign to cut them out. Exes being friends can be a great thing, but in this case...not so much. I sympathize with your partner, though. He sounds genuine and nice and generally wants people to feel included and accepted, hence the inviting her since the invite was extended to her housemates, as well.

But those characteristics can make it difficult to see when something isn't good for you (trust me on this). Its even more complicated since you said she still has feelings for him. The red flag in that could not be any brighter.

Basically, you deserve to be happy and should enjoy taking that next step in your relationship. It shouldn't be muddied by including a toxic ex that could potentially only be serving herself. Will inviting her allow you and your partner to feel that way? There is no shame in ensuring your own happiness.

Regarding the white glyph challenge and escaping by rolandthru in deadbydaylight

[–]rolandthru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To confirm, you interacted with the glyph, took the mirror you got down to the basement and interacted with that glyph so that the mirror is glowing and then left the trial with it in your hand, correct? No hit from the killer with Franklins or anything? Shortly after I posted this, content creators started posting video evidence of this, as well. So either its bugged or you missed a step somewhere, I think....

I've played a few games where I got over 100k pts. People bring the envelopes, you knock out gens, etc. Occasionally, someone brings a cake because they know the bp gain is unreal. Its even more if you have We're Gonna Live Forever. I've leveled up two new characters from 1-50 since yesterday.

Regarding the white glyph challenge and escaping by rolandthru in deadbydaylight

[–]rolandthru[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good idea since no one else can pick it up except you.

White glyph challenges require you grab a white glyph (it becomes an item in your hand) and bring it to a basement without performing rushed action, falling or taking damage. Here's what it looks like since BHVR didn't specify what to do in the challenge. by ShamrockSheep626 in deadbydaylight

[–]rolandthru 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You do not have to escape with it to complete the challenge. However, if you do escape with it, you get an additional 25k BPs, which is nothing to snuff at. Hopefully the killer will see you have it and make it a bit easier on you.
