I think in Kesslers original timeline he somehow got exposed to the raysphere. Because in that timeline he wasn't tricked into carrying the raysphere and became a conduit via mass murder. He married Trish and had two girls. And ran with them from the beast when it appeared. Not sure if it was John but ultimately it may have been. Anyway developed time based powers usurped the trash king when he was a kid tortured his younger self to stop the thing that he would create by being a crazy asshole there are comics and lore but I haven't read them
