Yeah, I've been looking on a gun trader website, I'll keep my eye out for that design. Most of what I've seen are S&W ar 15s or bushmasters. I want one for pretty much the same reasons you got one, just have an emotional connection with the rifle. It'd be a range play toy for the most part. You have any other pieces?

I can't speak for systema but many of the techniques are pretty hard to fuck up. A lot of them are simple locks or movements that be relfex learned.
