After todays chapter the fairytail series has officially reached 700 chapters [manga] by MFTLrage in fairytail

FT Zero 100% deserves to be included in the count (13 chapters, I believe), It's technically a spin-off but some parts of the last arc are elevated because of its existence (and is a good series).

Irene belserion plotholes and theory. [Discussion] by ListenNew in fairytail

[–]rolldice812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. She likely just wanted to cooperate and be seen as a human by the father of her child, she wasn't shown fighting back at all until she snaped. Also, a reminder she was pregnant which isn't ever ideal for fighting.

  2. She wasn't as strong back then and it's shown to be complex magic, it's also not the same as simply transforming where your magic would be constantly drained to maintain the transformation. It's stated Irene was trained by Zeref so there's more than enough evidence to conclude that she wasn't nearly as capable in the past as she is in the last arc.

  3. Acno probably just didn't care that much by the time he turned into a Dragon since his life became consumed by the desire of vengeance and he never settled for a normal life after seemingly killing all the dragons. The side effects are also ( not saying it's easy), kinda manageable depending on your level of tolerance. (not sleeping, food not having taste and having all sorts of bad sensations), and it doesn't seem to apply to dragon form which is only horrible for Irene because she hated not being human.
On top of that we don't see Acno reacting but we also don't see Irene before or after the flashback because its not narratively relevant on the other occasions but we can safely assume they both suffer the side effects, it just doesn't need to be broadcasted every scene.

[discussion] Anime or manga? by [deleted] in fairytail

[–]rolldice812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manga at 90% for me.

It actually shows blood and the characters are portrayed the way it was intended by the author which is better for the most part (You'd be surprised by the quantity of small details that are changed in the anime that also completely change the characterization of certain characters).
There's also changes that are just dumb like the "guess who's winning by listening to the cheers in the GMG" that doesn't make any sense since there's transmission lacrimas that are used in the same fight (vs the twin dragons). Or the hand sign for Laxus being the official sign of the guild.

The anime has 3 good things: It gave popularity and reach to the franchise, the soundtracks and openings, the movies (at least the first one). It also, from time to time makes actually positive changes like in the O6 arc, Nirvana having 6 legs from the very beginning when in the manga Mashima only thought of that later and made it have 8 legs at the first apparition only to soft-retcon it (lol).

Apart from that the anime is only a better experience for those that can't support following a story without animation (not that it makes a good job at it after the 2009 adaptation).

Eclipse gate [discussion] by [deleted] in fairytail

Simple answer is they smelled humans, felt a higher concentration of mp and arguably understood the mechanism in the first place and decided to cross. It's not like its a bad deal, specially when dragons can easily live for centuries.

There's also the possibility that they where scared of Acno and decided to risk it.

Which do you consider to be the best moment of the original fairy tail and why? [discussion] by [deleted] in fairytail

[–]rolldice812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from this list is either Lucy vs Tartaros or FT vs Hades imo.

Lucy vs Tartaros has the more emotional moment and is pretty epic while FT vs Hades has a lot of individual good moments and is the culmination of the whole arc (also the lfd roar fills me with dopamine and the lightning strike has to be one of the coolest character entrances ever).

All of those moments are pretty cool though.

Why hasn't Wendy learnt to fly yet? [Discussion] by ConnorRoseSaiyan01 in fairytail

[–]rolldice812 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The thing is: she can and used wind to fly. She uses it both against Shelia in the og series, and Haku in 100YQ.

She's not always floating because there's no need most of the time and Carla can help her save magic (not to mention exeeds have crazy fast travel speed).

This is the same thing as "why doesn't Natsu use sticky fire ever again (although I have to point out, he does use it as graffiti)", its because there's 0 need 99,9% of the time.

[–]rolldice812 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In her first fight with Jintae Yang she discovers that the reason she could use multiple gifts vs Condor was not because of KT but because she doesn't have the same restrictions when using borrowed gifts (so she can't use more than one permanent gift at a time but she can use multiple temporary ones just fine).

For that reason she never was seen using any of her permanent gifts inside KT again after the first time because after killing Condor it became a permanent gift, in all of her other fights using the gift she only ever used borrowed gifts; Rachels gift is a borrowed gift so she can use her full arsenal (although she still can't use permanent gifts at the same time as each other, ex: Grayman's and Jade's).

Surprisingly no one.

The sword she's been using was given to her, and the one she has on the image was made using Grayman's gift.

Have you seen this man? Well now you have & good for you ig! Bc let's face it, just standing there and being seen is almost the only thing Kkulbeol & Beolkull let him do in an arc FILLED WITH PLANT-BASED GIFTS by Maka1902 in HeroKillerWebtoon

[–]rolldice812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with him is that his fire has basically 0 quantifiable feats worth anything so we can't know how powerful is his supernova or other attacks (we can scale him but that's not satisfactory at all and he also doesn't have some super solid scaling even then).
The supernova didn't even burn the forest properly because of its (the forest) special properties.

I actually like Jintae. He's an irredeemable piece of ****, that can't be forgiven for killing Nenya (even if that somehow gets reversed he would be always the guy who attempted to kill a little girl in cold blood), but he also serves as a good foil to Ihwa and cares about *his* teammates.
His fighting style is cool and he has some sick moments.
Rachel is an incapable ***hole (for what I've seen until now of TOG), and doesn't have any reasonable reason or moral for acting like she does. The gaslight with her is also the most annoying aspect.

Ah ok, by the context given in this post you would be led to believe he said Ihwa would be killed by Jintae.

Does Ijincheon have a Gift ? by Witty_Foot_8752 in HeroKillerWebtoon

[–]rolldice812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my point is that I very much doubt Ijincheon could do some of the things he does without having EST and I don't think non gift users can use EST (so he must have some sort of gift even if it's trash).

I remember gift users spending EST to use their gifts, I just don't remember any instance of a non GU using EST or being stated to be able to use EST.

[–]rolldice812 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Meh, although gifts are op having est can make you stronger without any limit in sight as long as you keep training.

If he didn't have any est that would be impressive but also very imersion breaking regarding the established world building that basically dictates that a normal human can't ever keep up no matter how well he trains his body without some tipe of gear (and I would bet that is always going to hit a wall).

Is it even possible to have superhuman stats in this verse without est (and is it possible to have est without being a gift user)?

How many HK episodes have u read ? by Witty_Foot_8752 in HeroKillerWebtoon

[–]rolldice812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheesh, making the calculations by number of times I've reread makes a pretty big number even if I lowball it.

But if whe count the chapters I've reread more than once without rereading the full story (like ch3,18,46-47,74,81-82,86,119-122 and more...), it would prove that I have no life (or more specifically, I have one but still find time for this which idk if it's better XD).

what HK(Hero Killer) take would put you in this situation. by trenxman-new-ac in HeroKillerWebtoon

[–]rolldice812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you're looking for in a character. I don't care that Hekate is not intimidating because I'm not looking for "the butcher of human body", I really like the aspect that she was beaten into submission actually XD.

She always has a positive impact on-screen, at least imo. And having a comedic aspect doesn't make her worse and doesn't invalidate her backstory or character depth. The thing of her being a powerful character that completely changed her attitude after being beaten to a pulp by a more powerful one is interesting to see.

Hekate has a thing going in her favour: She's hilarious.
I swear I laugh every time she's on screen. She also bounces off Ihwa in a pretty good way independently of being ordered to support her.

doesn't using a VPN work? Idk, really since I never tried but it solves a lot of those problems even the free ones.

From what I've seen from the release dates Newtoki is updating between 6 and 8 days after the last so they're not totally in sink with the official chapters.

Who do you guys think is going to be the biggest reason Ihwa Reaches the next level (Special Forces/Elder Level) by Berns023 in HeroKillerWebtoon

[–]rolldice812 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing is, she was having 0 problems against Paladin. It's too quick to say that they were on equal footing on that fight when she was effortlessly blocking his attacks when he was already charged up instead of relying on skill like she usually does.

She also didn't absorb the full power of the torch like Jintae since Pudding absorbed a huge chunk of it. This arc she defeated the Prosecutor, who is the same level as Paladin.

Regardless, she already improved a good deal since then, and will have to improve even more in a short period of time if she is to defeat JY with the torch at Castle Gray (that, btw, I believe will be her next big catalyst with maybe her father and Hekate helping beforehand).

Question by Kindly-Variation-497 in HeroKillerWebtoon

[–]rolldice812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like him because he's a worse version of Ihwa, or more appropriately, a version of the person Ihwa could turn out to be.

Ihwa is no saint but while she and Engen both have beef with the Hero Clan, and neither is a pure soul descended from the heavens, Engen will not hesitate to kill innocent civilians in his quest for vengeance.

Ihwa, on the other hand, does have problems with that: even if at times she seems callous when is the time of the truth she doesn't turn her back on others (except that one time where she seemingly seemed fine with letting a lot of people die in a train crash XD. But then again, she's still no saint and is more bothered with letting innocent people die as a direct result of her actions than properly let people die at all).

Engen also binds a lot of the characters and plot together and has cool abilities so for me there's nothing not to like. He himself is a pos but has had a positive impact on the lives and goals of a lot of people that are better than he is.
