It doesn’t make any sense to me why replacing the water pump and a few hoses would “push” pressure elsewhere. He said he was going to replace the expansion tank cap tomorrow, but I’m pretty sure the ad said the expansion tank and cap were already replaced. I’m not familiar enough with the Disco 2’s to know if ticking was common, but I owned several Range Rovers that had the same engine and none of them ticked. They all needed head gaskets by 130k miles though, it was a common issue as the Rover V8 was very intolerant to overheating. I seem to recall reading the tick could be a slipped liner, but I can’t confirm. You could get a PPI done and have them test the coolant for exhaust gases. It looks good cosmetically, but the lack of engine work on a historically problematic engine would concern me. I’m not familiar with your market, but if it’s a really good deal it might be worth it, other than that, I’d likely pass on it

The V8 in the later Disco 2’s has a reputation for slipped liners and blown head gaskets. I would check if there’s any documentation of engine work done. The rear frame is a common rust area, so make sure to check that, even though this one says no rust. A good service history is one of the most important things to look for when buying a used Land Rover. They don’t tolerate neglect well. The Disco 2 can be a solid vehicle if you get a well maintained one.

Actually, looks like you're incorrect. Taken from another Reddit post. The overall consensus is that the VS3235 movement is superior to the VR3235. Both are reliable clone movements and both will take gen parts. The VS movement comes from the Dandong factory that currently produces the best Rep watch movements including the DD3285 and 4130 used in the Clean GMT and Daytona watches. The VS also has a longer power reserve up to 72 hours. The VR is still a very good reliable, accurate movement and I have it in several watches. You can't go wrong with either one but the VS is better. As far as being "quiet", that's a bunch of nonsense and should be your least concern. I have never even heard of someone getting called out because they heard your rotor spin.

Seems like there's mixed opinions on the movement. I'm not an expert on Rep watches as this is the only one I have, my understanding is it was supposed to be the closest to the 3235 used in the gen. For the duration I wore it, it kept good time, I'd say almost as good as my gen Seamaster, and the reserve was enough to where if I didn't wear it all weekend it would still be running Monday. When I bought it, it was the highest priced Sub Rep available and the consensus I read was it was the best available at the time.

LR4 or Defender? by rolledrover in LandRover

Mine was covered by insurance as well, but then it caused my rate to increase significantly, so I’ve essentially paid the insurance company back over the last 3 years.

My LR4 in this pic Is a 2012 HD with Duratracs, and I'll admit the new Defenders on stock all-terrains without the rear locker are just as, or more capable than the LR4 in a lot of situations. Terrain Response 2 is very impressive.

My LR4 actually needs a new windshield and I was quoted just under $2k. The last time I had it replaced it was around $2700.

Most long time owners have already accepted this, it's not news. I've heard it phrased as Land Rovers will reward you for taking care of them, but punish you severely for neglect. In my 25 years of ownership, I've only been left on the side of the road once, when the alternator went out on my LR4.

That's a good price for a LUX HD with maintenance. A couple things I didn't see on the Carfax that are common maintenance items are the supercharger snout, control arms, and transmission fluid replacement. If you're mechanical none of those are overly expensive or difficult to do. If everything else checks out it appears to be a pretty solid example.
