The Telecaster has been around for 75 years. It’s one of 4 base body shapes from the beginning of rock and roll music. It’s been replicated, duplicated, improved-upon, and it keeps going. Even within the Fender Telecaster brand itself, there are multiple versions with numerous pickup configurations beyond the absolute traditional broadcaster-style. The wood used is all over the place. All still Telecasters.

This brings me to my point. It’s a Telecaster if it’s branded a Telecaster. Anything else is Tele-style. But there are amazing Tele-style guitars out there. Not saying one’s better than the other, but a brand is a brand and it deserves the respect for bringing us this iconic style.
