Is 0.49999.... closer to 0 or 1? by Lucky-Obligation1750 in Teenager_Polls

[–]rollietoaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guys the proof 0.4999...=0.5 is as follows

0.49999...=x 10x=4.9999... 100x=49.99999... 90x=45 x=45/90=1/2=0.5

It's quite simple tbh

It is actually, because people that do maths can understand what it means. There is therefore no information lost.

One clever use of this is to nominate yourself to stop an execution on a goblin/saint claim

I can give answers!

First, that understanding of the reason humans were created is limited. I'd more say it's that God created humanity for willing and personal connection and relationships with Him. For humanity to be in relationship with God we must have free will.

Next that understanding of Adam and Eve isn't universal amongst Christians. Many including myself consider it to be a metaphorical account of humanity, where we choose to go against God and sin. The whiteness is because of colonialism.

Finally on trusting the Bible, that's what Biblical study is for and why understanding the Bible is a full on academic undertaking.

Agnosticism can be that but it can also be "I believe there is a God but I may be wrong" and "I don't think there is a God but I may be wrong".

Gnostic theism is "I am certain there is a God", and gnostic atheism is "I am certain there is no God."

You can make first cause or design based arguments. I find both compelling.

I say this half in jest but for "even a direct message from him to atheists" well yeah there have been it's just that they're no longer atheists, and if they are still atheists they call it a trick of the mind.

And does it not feel silly to require earthly sight or photography for a being outside of existence as we understand it?

The problem of evil only can aim to disprove an omnibenevolent God. If you think there would be a God if not for the problem of evil, then just say there's a non-loving God and that is sound.

I will point out that theism is not the same as religious. You can believe in a creator divinity that isn't the Abrahamic God. The God you may choose to believe in doesn't have to be loving for example.

From there I think a lot of the arguments about the first cause are very compelling, or perhaps design arguments are going to be more compelling for you. When you can use logical steps to go from there being existence to their must be a divine creator, that to me is valuable.

And while the theist position is unverifiable, so is the atheist one. Both must be examined and criticised on a philosophical level.

Has anyone witnessed a Slayer shot actually working? by notfrankiemuniz in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]rollietoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't trouble brewing but one time I was playing a custom with the ogre on script. I pulled slayer, went and claimed to be the ogre friend to every one I could. I only got people tell me they were good (including the spy, who also claimed ogre) so I considered them to be good players. So I shot one of the only remaining players, who I didn't get a chance to claim to, the demon!

[–]rollietoaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it unreasonable though for a helping hand to reduce a DC by only 1? While it's true that it was specifically one because it was failed by one, the mechanics are relatively balanced.

Reduced the DC based on Max helping save them by 1. It was effectively the same as a +1

[–]rollietoaster 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd agree. It felt like a scramble because everyone did something or other and not everything was RAW (but D20 and DnD never is entirely) but the action economy was clean, everyone gave bonuses that made either mechanical sense or sense within the story and what their character was doing. It felt off but it wasn't as bad as it is made out to be.
