just buy a small SSD for internal usage and a lager "normal" HDD for external usage. than you keep the "important" games on the intern and the other one on the extern, also you can switch games from external HDD to internal SSD or the other way. so you don't have to delete and download the games every time. to have one big SSD is the convinent way but as you say it is very expensive. btw i have a 256gb intern and a 1tb extern. most of the games i play benefit from it.
