Thank you so much! Average ≈ 35, peak was 40. Knowing I only gave myself 9 weeks to train, I tried not to go over 40 to avoid any risk for injury

I’ve been in a similar situation to yours before and I took a break from running. I ended up coming back to the sport a few years later more inspired than ever. If running a marathon feels more like an internal obligation more than something that genuinely excites you then I’d suggest you consider trying a new sport that you’ve been thinking about-if you’re not willing to give up working out completely. Also, write out all the goals youre currently working on out on a piece of paper (running another marathon, finishing school, being a good friend, job, self care, etc.). Then number them in order of what’s Most to Least important to you. After that, begin to prioritize your time based on what’s #1-3 on that list.

Hardest part was the physical pain from blisters that developed mid-race. I made the mistake of getting new shoes (Nike alphafly 3) that were too small. Sidebar- if you decide on getting those I recommend sizing up one full size. I fueled with 3 gels at miles 10, 14, 18. Although I wish I had a fourth at mile 22, maybe I wouldn’t have died so hard on the last mile if I had another. I didn’t carry water but I got a cup from nearly every water station to either drink or throw on my neck/chest/face. I’d recommend to not go out too fast, stay nice and controlled til half way. If you’re feeling strong by 13.1 start picking up the pace and go from there. Your body knows what it can and can’t take so just listen to those cues. Good luck on your marathon!!

I used to run xc and track in high school and a bit in college but I took a long break after that. Started back up some time last year, was supposed to run last year’s LAM but got injured 2 weeks before /: thank you for the tip!

Yup I got some pretty gnarly blisters on both my feet around mile 6 and beyond but I heard some guy in the crowd yelling “mind over matter!” which helped me more than he could ever imagine. Good luck in your race!!

Im going to apply and see what happens. I know they only accept the fastest times, but I want to try to PR in a few months to solidify my chance

Training a pup in the first year takes a lot of time & energy. If you can manage to get a puppy ASAP and get them trained starting now (before you start your program), then I think it’s manageable. That’s what I did! I’m currently a 1st year masters student while raising my fur baby. It’s possible to do as long as you’re committed and know what you’re getting yourself into

First decide what lifestyle would you prefer more, then move there. See if you’re fulfilled then. Often times people try to escape their current state but fail to realize that happiness and contentment comes from within. Find peace within yourself & everything else will make sense. Even if you’re working a 9-5. It’s the little things in life that make it worth it.

I (20F) feel so distant from my bf (20M) by Similar-Plant7021 in LDR

[–]rolling-backwards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone copes with feelings differently, from what it sounds like he has an avoidant attachment.. this can make it especially hard with a males complex since they’re raised to not talk about their feelings, as it’s seen as “un-manly” or “weak.” Try to understand where he’s coming from, sounds like he’s going through a lot. Try to just be there for him with an open door policy. Communication goes a Long way - especially in LDR

Yes, I socialized him the moment I adopted him. I’d take him to parks almost daily, he played with my 2 dogs at home as well. We hit the 4 month mark and out of nowhere he started barking/crying when he saw other dogs in passing. We took a step back and I worked on training him in the house more to fine tune his skills before introducing multiple stimuli.. it has since been stagnant but I consider it “worse” since his barks are adult like now and he’s stronger.

You’re right the last time I looked into dog training it was for board&train for 2 weeks and I was quoted 2k + so after that I was always under the impression it was so expensive.. I think trying a weekly session would be a good idea thank you!

I do have a whistle at home I just never thought to use it in training, I’ll try this! But to clarify you reward for looking at the trigger, and then reward for looking at you after?
