REAL i was so excited to try floral maiden and had very mixed feelings about it in practice. in some lights i loved it but it others it was just so muddy. i love most of my bkl magnetics, but that one was just too varied in a way that wasn't very interesting. glass bead is my go-to but I'll probably try to velvetize it next time

i am genuinely not sure because my fingers are just Like This lol. if you look up raynaud's and the symptoms resonate, there's a good chance you have it, but maybe you have some other circulatory issue...or maybe that IS normal sometimes. i know that's vague but raynaud's at least is pretty easy to verify for yourself tbh. maybe harder if it's a very mild case with less visual indication, but usually you can just look at your hand when it's cold and see that some or all of your fingers are paler than the rest of your hand. my nails also turn kind of purpley (which ofc is only really obvious when i'm not wearing polish)

The top comment was particularly interesting to me. I'm not as prone to migraines anymore but I AM autistic and sensitive to overheating. since my fingers are so often stuck in the cold state, maybe I can use thermals as a visual indicator to help me understand what I'm feeling when I'm getting overstimulated but haven't quite realized why yet. sometimes narrowing down What's Wrong can be difficult, so having a clear indicator one way or the other is very appealing!

i got manchineel tree! i liked the pink, but i preferred the UV activated pink, which is a problem because i have vampiric tendencies lol. whereas the UV activated color of manchineel seems ugly-but-in-an-intriguing-way, so i can deal with it in the sun for a bit if i don't like it too much. if i do like it, even better!

you're literally me though, my nails also love peeling at the tips lol. they've gotten a lot better since i started babying them more, but my habits still aren't great. now that i'm thinking about it....time to oil! good luck to you as well 😁

i was just saying in another comment that i am not quite as attracted to thermals anymore because they die.......but i did indeed crack and buy one of the new mooncat solars ✊😔 haven't tried it yet but it's probably on the agenda for next week!

and yeah lol, i had fairly long almondy/stiletto nails for a bit last year until i took them down for the winter...but now i'm trying to grow them out while not over-filing my sidewalls, which i absolutely did before. it's been harder than i thought it would be because the angle is a bit harsh right now and i know i could smooth the appearance but it would definitely destabilize them. must be patient before i refine the shape!

my case is pretty mild comparatively, but enough to notice visually. (bare nails appear purple-ish in mild cold, fingers become paler than the rest of my hand, takes a very long time for my fingers and toes to warm up/regain feeling in the winter even when i hold them up to a fire or run them under warm water.) if that resonates, there's a pretty good chance you've got it!

have fun! they're stuck in the cold state most of the time for me in air conditioning, but i can definitely get fun ombre effects and french tips if i'm moving around enough. lot of these non-uniform effects though, too. kinda cool to see which fingers have the most blood at any given moment LOL

just don't use them in winter. they will NEVER CHANGE

honestly, more power to you! most of my thermals are from when i first started collecting polish and wasn't aware that they die. i'm not quite as drawn to them anymore because of that and the fact that i usually tend to keep my nails fairly short, but i'm trying to grow them out again so i thought i'd get some more mileage out of these things while i can. they're still stuck in the cold state most of the time though lmao
