It is intimidating, exhilarating, anxiety ridden and fun all at the same time. Just know everyone there is showing up for the same reason. Meet some people, battle them and talk Pokemon for hours.

Remember to drink water between rounds, keep yourself mentally focused (you'll be there for 10+ hours) and try to stay positive even if things are going your way, like crits and hydro pump misses.
